Boost turned down? Or is it paranoia?

Main question (and yes I searched): Is there any way someone could lower my boost while my car was being repaired? I have a stock ECU, but I found 2 knobs that look curiously like they could control boost somehow (upper left of engine bay, black knobs). I only ask because I am afraid that my dad may have told the guys at Tripoint to lower my boost  . I don't watch my gauge religiously, but I have seen absolutely no boost while driving it back to my house. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: it feels slower too.

First, What was the car doing at tripoint? Maybe they forgot to tighten the hose clamps. The lowest boost you will see on GOOD stock twins is 7psi and that is ONLY with the WG pill removed. What boost are you seeing? If you are getting zero boost you most likely have a leak. ex hose clamp, crack in plastic crossover pipe..blah blah blah. we need more info. and a pick would be nice too

It was at tripoint because of a catastrophic coolant leak (had to be towed). I dont hear quite as much hissing/whooshing from behind the glovebox near the BOVs. I just get suspicious of 2 black knobs near the turbos...

Sounds like a hose is lose or you have another minor problem.

Take your car down to this shop. He is fantastic.

My dad doesn't know what boost is :)

RotaryEvolution 02-23-07 02:46 AM

haha, they probably put a cone filter on your intake elbow to bypass the turbos.

:owned:

something more simple and sneaky would be to block the blow offs to hold wide open. almost all charge air would be vented and it still would look like a stock setup without you knowing.

If your dad is paying for the repairs on your FD, he can do whatever the F he wants with your car. Stupid as it is to buy this car for your kid, it's slightly less stupid to cut the boost down a little bit.

Having your parents pay for the maintenance on your car is like having your grandma dress you. Seriously. And then to complain... sheesh.
