did you check the rubber coupler coming off the turbos. it is known to crack. i would check that first, then the intake hoses for cracks in them. after that check all intercooler hoses. nick

Kahren Oct 27, 2002 01:34 PM

intake hoses would not cause to have less boost

Maybe try washing your car! HAHAAH Jason, oh I mean "njm". Did you check lines listed above? Why not just replace all lines while you have the UIM off? Might be quicker then hunting around for several hours.. Did you pull codes yet?
When all this started were you on high boost or right before that? Also waht about the stuff you used to help seel the lines, could some of that have gotten ina line and clogged it??

Jason, I am going to post this on the rx7 digest. Email me so I can foward repleys to you.

Rayman93RX7 Oct 31, 2002 12:56 PM

Can you be more clear about where the extra air is coming from? Can you open the hood, rev the engine at least to like 3krpm and hear where the leak is?

if all the vacuum liens are fine then check to see if u have pills on the vastegate acutor and prespool actuator. if u do then your wategate and precontrol solenoids are bad. note some cars like MINE didnt come iwtht the pills in the lines, they were built in the nipples that those hoses attach to.

i do have pills in the lines. i replaced all the hoses and i know for sure they are there. can you test the wastgate or selonoids to see if they are working properly?the car has 25k miles on it and it would suprise me if something major is causing this problem . thanks

are you getting 7psi on both turbos? If so it sounds to me like you're wastegate. Pull the strut bar, xover pipe, and pressure chamber off. Pull the hoses off the wastegate solenoid (very carefully). If you blow into the one that goes to the actuator it should feel blocked. If you pull the hose off back of the y- pipe, you can check that too.

i will check the wastgate actuator and see if that is the problem . thanks

sk8world Nov 2, 2002 07:49 PM

Jason, If you think your car will be fixed by this weekend I think we can fit you in. we have had 2-3 guys drop out.

duboisr Nov 2, 2002 08:37 PM

Did you check the wastegate solenoid, by the test method in the factory manual, or just looked to see if the hoses were on?
