BOOST Problems FIXED
Here was the problem I was having
Alright. this situation has been touched on a few times recently, but I've been able to study it a little further. With this new info I'd like to get your information Perf. Mods: DP, CB, PowerFC I was having an odd boost transtion. I would get boost pattern of 10-5-5>>creeping to 10 during a boost test. This was happening constantly with no deviation. I swung by my mechanics place to have him take the car out for a spin and try to duplicate the problem. before we headed out, he adjusted the duty cycle (65% primary and 65% secondary) and we could not reproduce the odd transition. later that night a friend of mine got his datalogit and we hooked it up to my PFC to test it out. Worked great. while we weren't recording, I was able to reproduce the same boost pattern, but not as freqently. over the next week and a half I've been able to note the following: 1) exaust note change : when this transition problem occurs, there is a specific change in the exaust tone. The exaust gets louder, but less crisp. 2)4000 rpm flooring the gas: this transition problem most commonly occurs in 3rd or 4th when mashing the pedal after cruising. 3)I can correct the problem: If I feather the accelerator, or downshift and then accelerate I can usually get back to normal boost levels. I decided to perform the PCV removal on robinette's site (http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/pcv.htm) hoping to eliminate my boost problem. As I removed the vaccuum tank I noticed the nipple was busted of the check valve in the same location. I continued to eliminate the PCV and then replaced the check valve. MY BOOST PROBLEMS ARE FIXED! Hopefully this helps other people having similar issues BigRed |
