Boost Problems

Just got my FMIC and boost gauge on and my car wont boost over 8psi.. i think it goes go 8-6-8 but i didn't drive it around enough to get the exact numbers.. i did a little searching but didn't find any real help.. heres a picture of the new setup.

In the second picture could there be air leaking out of where the elbow connects to the piping?

My mods are; pettit intakes, pettit downpipe, pettit pulley kit, catback, greddy fmic, greddy elbow, greddy type s bov, 8lb flywheel, and a pfc but its not on right now..

Any help to why my car is boosting wrong is appreciated.. thx- Eric

Probably just a boost leak from something that loosened up during the install. How does the coupler look on the bottom of the stock plastic cross-over pipe? That can be a problem.

Nice to see someone else with f'd up filters on their pettit intake.

So, you just got the boost gauge and FMIC done at the same time?

If so, your boost problem probably existed before your FMIC install. I assume you are still running the main cat, how many miles on it?

The boost problem definitely was there before the install.. and yes i got the fmic and gauge done at the same time.

I am still running the main cat and theres probably 85k miles on it? When i bring my car back in to do the non-seq conversion i will be putting a pettit midpipe on it.

Hah, are your filters f'd up to? I plan on going single in the near future so it doesnt matter to me all that much.

IMO, I would wait until after you replace it before going too far into troubleshooting. Since you are loosing boost through the entire range of your boost pattern, it seems like you just have a restriction which may just be a worn out cat.

Thats good news.. when i go wot it almost feels restricted kind of like its having a hard time.. its hard to explain.. hopefully the new midpipe will fix this problem and the boost problem... Thx Mahjik you always are really helpfull - Eric

ditch the cat, get a dog

Check and verify that you still have the factory vac lines on the waste gate and precontroller. 8-6-8 is very close to 7-x-7 which is the boost pattern w/o the factory pills in those lines.
