Boost problem driving me insane

Can you guys please help me diagnose my boost problem? I tried searching but the number of threads was overwhelming and I don't know where to start. I was driving my FD home from a friends house and went full throttle before I got home. There was just no boost. At all. My boost gauge goes to 0 (out of vacuum, going into boost) and the car goes to redline just like normal. Please don't flame me, I know it is not good for the car but I was trying to diagnose it.

The car has gotten 2 psi in a 2nd gear (car is automatic btw) once. I gave it gas from 70 mph in 4th and the boost gauge read 4 psi.

I don't believe the previous owner took very good care of the car since it was leaking oil like a bitch from the front plate when I bought it. They didnt notice that the gasket was folded and didnt seal about half an inch of the plate.

So what could it be? Could the wastegate be stuck? I understand the basics of turbocharging but I will be honest, the FD sequential system confuses the hell out of me. I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Here is a good site to start with:

check turbo control / actuator solenoid valves and vacuum lines
check prespool solenoid / actuator and vac lines
check wastegate actuator and vac lines and solenoids
check BOV and CRV lines and solenoids (and valves themselves)
check IC hoses for BIGASS slits in them
check to see if your cat is clogged

that should be a good starting point.

*edit* I'll be in Laf...next week, maybe I can stop by and see whats up, PM me.

IMO, the ZERO boost is a pretty sure sign of a severely-torn (or completely detached) boost coupler.

I agree - find all couplers between the turbos, intercooler, and throttle body, and inspect them very carefully. Turn them inside out. Look for oil spatter on the surrounding parts.

Check the 4-10mm nuts that secure the Y-Pipe to both Turbos. They maybe loose. Also make sure you have a gasket on each Y-Pipe flange.

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

When I found my boost leak it was actually alot more common then the vacuum lines... If you were only pushing 2 psi you have a huge leak. Before you do anything check all the rubber hosing for cracks and the rubber hose connectors. Especially on the intercooler.

Mine was the old rubber hose connector from the turbo to the intercooler, it was all cracked and torn... I went from pushing 4 psi to 12psi... So just start with the basics and make sure its not something way easy to fix.
