Boost pattern using Greddy Profec B II
 

I've installed my greddy profec B spec II controller and lately have been trying to adjust it. I notice now that I do not get the usual pattern of boost for example the dip in boost during transition.

My boost is currently set at around 13psi, but I do no get the usual dip in boost during transition. Once I hit full boost ( around 3500 rpm ), it stays at around 13 psi, all the way up to redline. Should I still feel that "kick" or transition when the secondary turbos come online? I've hooked up the controller the way the manual recommends, not the other version that others have used by tying in the precontroller with the wastegate. By installing the controller do I automatically eliminate the sequential system?

I do know that my secondary turbos are on their way out, so I don't know if this has any significance. With that said is there the possiblility that I am only boosting through my primary turbo?? If I am, am I overloading it?

I think my settings are:
Set: 40
Gain: 38
Set Boost: 40

i;m not sure how the profec b II is but i have jus the regular profec and have it controlling both the primary and secondary turbo. before i only had it on the precontroller and i could only control that one not the second so i changed it. but u should be getting the transition no matter wat.

Ideally, you should not feel a kick or anything. The reason Mazda made the sequential system so complicated is for a seamless powerband. A good boost controller that's set up well can give that to you - consistent, steady boost.

I'm familiar with the sequential system:) It's purpose was to reduce the lag of the secondary turbo when it comes online, by prespooling the second turbo before transition. Thus said, with my mods in my sig, and I think most agree, you always felt a wallop of power once the secondary turbos came online at 4500rpm.

With the boost controller installed coupled with teh fact that I have a dying secondary turbo, I'm wondering if I should feel the usual seat of the pants boost that an FD has, or something entirely different. -S.
