Boost leak!!!
 

I have a dead stock 93 rx7 with a greddy type rs bov...i think i have a major boost leak...When i boost it hits 10 but drops to 4 or sometimes it doesn't even boost 10 only 4 but that also drops to like 2. Any suggestions?

Im no rx7 pro, but when I had that symptom, it was the coupling coming from the Y-Pipe. When I firsty bought my car, it only boosted to about 5 psi. Someoene from these forums suggested me to look at the rubber coupling from the Y-pipe and I found that I had a 4 inch tear.

you need to check your S-pipe that comes from the bottom of the factory intercooler. The same thing happened to me and i didn't think it was cracked until i pulled it off and inspected it.

How did you check your pipes ? Did you remove them and physically check the rubber couplings ? Try turning them inside out if there good you won't crack them. If your seeing the 10 psi before transition (and before there's alot of heat in the engine compartment) then this would lean towards a bad coupling. Follow the link in the post above for how to troubleshoot your turbo system.

Ya this happens to alot of people. If the boost you are leaking varies then check the y-pipe to crossover pipe coupler. It is probably loose and has some oil residue that is causing it to push up off of the y-pipe when you get to 10psi because it can't stay on. That is your best bet.

If it is not that. Then take off your crossover pipe and pressurize it with water and check for a crack somewhere (usually on the bottom).

If it is not that then check all other piping coming from the turbo's. Most of the time it won't be the elbow coming off of the throttle body.
