Boost Issue Or Not ?

Hello,

I am new to this site however not to fd rx7's yet I have a boost issue that I have never seen before .
The primary turbo is not spooling up at 10 pounds only 9 or a little above on my boost guage. The secondary is only boosting at 7pounds , but with more than 8 in the primary the secondary should run all the way open . Any one have an Idea what the issue could be ?

start checking couplers and your intercooler hoses first, what air flow mods do you have?

all stock at this point , just had the intercooler hose replaced , lost boost before due to that very reason

How many miles on the car? Possible could be a clogged cat now rearing it's head.

76k

GOD, you have an FD in Arizona with the stock pre-cat? Get that furnace out of there! In all seriousness, you need to get a downpipe installed quickly. Your pre-cat is very likely clogged with that mileage and that can mess up your main cat as well, along with being very hard on the turbos and engine.

There are no downsides to installing a downpipe if the rest of the car is stock except for the cost. And you can hear your turbos spooling easier which is not a negative to anyone I know.

BTW, you should also get an aluminum AST as well to replace the crap plastic stock one. This should be a high priority. Also, with 76k, keep an eye on those radiator end tanks. You are likely getting near to the end of the life of the stock radiator.

Isn't owning an FD fun?

check your vac lines and maybe upgrade them to silicone hoses. Make sure to zip tie all of them as the engine generates so much heat and could pop the hoses off.
