boost gauge tubing.
 

When I got a boost gauge for my civic it came with a really small tube then you used vacum hose just to attach it to a hose reciving boost (wastegate actuator).

I just got a re gauge ofr my rx7 and it came with no hose, however it's nipple looks like it is made for vacum hose.

Question:

Is it alright to run vacum hose the whole distance between the nipple on the intake manifold and the gauge. Or would it make incorrect readings, because of the larger diameter?

The boost gauge I had for mine came with a plastic vaccuum line that had large silicone couplers on both ends. It attached to one of the nipples on the UIM.

Sorry, that didn't answer the question. I don't think that you can run the larger diameter and get a totally correct reading, as some pressure loss should occur.

I was thinking that at first, but when I really think about it the only differnce I could imagine is a couple milliseconds extra of lag on the readings.

I think the smaller stuff is just easier to run between the gauge and the nipple.

HOWEVER, I now have another question!

Where are you guys taking the hose through the fire wall? And also where should I splice the power wire on the gauge so its only on when the lights are on?

losse about 1psi reading on the gauge i belive but nothing bad. i might be wrong some one wann correct me or back me up? i run mine like that, so do most

Dude dont' drill through the firewall.. you can run the wire really clean through the drivers fender and through the wheelwell into the car. Do some searches on this.. there's lots of info.

As for the lighting... i ran the wire through the same wheelwell and to the front bumper lens that lights up when the parking lights are on... i don't belive this is the best way to do it but it works... Also, you won't be able to dim the gauge if you do it this way.. but it doesn't bother me b/c i like my gauges full bright all the time.

Also.. if you're in WA State, there's this Hardware store called McLendon in Bothell... they sell lots of brass fittings to get the boost gauge all wired up.
