blown motor but now car wont start

i know it sounds rediculous that im complaining about my car not starting with a blown motor but even a couple weeks after it blew it would start up no problem, but now it wont start at all, it just keeps cranking and does nothing, like it is flooded but i dont think it is. last week i did the un flooding procedure and i cranked for a couple seconds and it turned over and i got some rpms then it died, any suggestions of how to get it started so i can move it. thanks.

Veger 01-27-07 06:42 PM

Im just curious as to why your trying to start you car seen as its blown ?

as i mentioned in my first post, i need to move it. and if i can get it started and running okay, i can drive it to have the new motor done so i dont have to pay for towing.

why not just push it ?

go rent a car trailer, pushed the car onto it and take it very it has to go.

rotariesrule 01-27-07 06:55 PM

get the engine rebuilt and then you can start and move it whenever you want to.

rather drive it. everyone knows you can still drive an FD with a blown motor(to an extent of course)

working on it, from talking to rich, goodfellafd3s we have come to the conclusion that it most likely wont be able to be rebuilt which means a reman, which is cool, just expensive.

Unholy FD3S 01-27-07 06:58 PM

well bro, its kinda simple

your title is " blown motor but car wont start "

geez i wonder why, are you trying to see if we know whats wrong with it ?

It can be 100s of things now

how do you know u cant rebuild it? considering you havent taken it apart yet i don't see how you can just make a blanket statement that it most likely wont be able to be rebuilt.

Rex7-93 01-28-07 12:37 AM

well rich stated that with the amount of miles it has, over 100k the rotor housings wont be reusable, not too sure about anything else.

RotaryEvolution 01-28-07 12:42 AM

MMO and unflooding or a pull start are probably your only alternative to get it running on one rotor.

your plugs are probably fouled on the loaded rotor by now also, they should be cleaned or replaced before trying to start it on one rotor and they would need to be cleaned often(like every startup).

Rex7-93 01-28-07 12:57 AM

yea i was planning on changing the plugs because i figured they would be fouled, but the problem is my car is on an inclined driveway and you know how you have to change the plugs so that might be difficult. and i dont want to try pop starting it and then it not start and i'll have my car out in the street and have to push it up the driveway. :wallbash:

RotaryEvolution 01-28-07 01:02 AM

you can change the plugs fairly easily by pulling off the intake pipe, i never could understand why people jack up the car just to change the plugs, i can do it without taking anything off the car and doing it by working around the intake pipe though it is a pain to get in there with it in the way.

Rex7-93 01-28-07 01:14 AM

your talking about the intake elbow and just reaching down thru there? sounds like something i should try. Thanks

vtakk eg 01-28-07 01:30 AM

they are a pain in the ass to change from the bottom or maybe my arms are just to long to get through that little hole while im laying on my back 2 in. from the undertray.
im gonna try going in through the top next time

I'm testimony to that. When I got my 7, I put more miles on the engine after it blew than I did while it was running properly.

rotariesrule 01-28-07 08:29 AM

you could ratchet your car up the driveway with a come-a-long.

Rex7-93 01-28-07 10:47 AM

very true, im going to try to change the plugs from up top and see what happens, hopefully it will startup, then i'll just have to make sure i start her everyday to stop it from happening again. thanks for all the help everyone.

AWD-RWD racer 01-28-07 11:02 AM

when my motor went, coolent seal, it would only start if i had my friend tow it and then pop start it, although it would blow white smoke like no tomorrow, and if i didnt get to my destination within 5 min it would over heat to hell. get someone with a long tow rope and a truck and just tow it over there. thats what i did.

Where are you bringing it?

John

Rex7-93 01-28-07 06:55 PM

yea when it would start it wouldnt smoke much when warm and wouldnt overheat at all. thanks for the input.

bryant 01-29-07 06:27 PM

push start it. it will work even with fouled plugs.
ran on 1 rotor for about 4 hours till it just locked up. bad rotor bearing.
