best single turbo set up
 

Hey i'm looking for a single turbo kit. I was going to get the Davinci Af61r kit but i talk to Ron and he said he is only going to be selling the turbo. Do you think i need a kit or can i pieace this kit together. I want something that has fast spool but still puts out greagt numbers. Please help need a turbo soon. Thanks

Don’t we all. You should post what numbers you are looking for. You can see 400whp out of the GT35r with a ported motor with close to stock twin's spoolup.

Yes, asking what you are asking is like saying - Well, I want a girl that loves to get it on, doesn't speak, cleans my shit, and also wants to get it on with my RX-7.

There are SOOO MANY different combinations of what you can do, it's impossible to list them. Numbers you want to get out of the kit, and what is the goal of the car? (Street racing, drag, autocross, drift, etc.)

Good rule of thumb - Ball-bearings spool fastest. Smaller exhaust-side's spool faster than larger, and vice-versa.

Sounds to me like you don't know what you want yet.

How many rear wheel hp do you want?
What boost level do you want to make it at?
Will you have a ported motor?
Do you want something that can make XXX rwhp on the street at low boost and then XXX rwhp on the track at high boost with race fuel?
How do you plan to use the car when it's done?

There are a ton of good turbos out there, and we can get you going in the right direction, but we need to know more about what you want to do with the car and how you want to set it up.

Around 500 hp huh? Sounds like you need a T-78 or T-88. Then maybe a 3 row fmic. New fuel pump. Although I don't think 500 hp is necessary for the streets. Or just go all out and get a 3 rotor motor with a t-88 kit.

Just be a G and get the GT42R! Haha, that things a monster.

my vote is for the af61r, that is what I plan on getting atleast.

A T66 will probably be a good combo for street or track driving while also being capable of getting around 500 rwhp at about 20-22 PSI of boost.

I do have a record of one person making a very nice dyno with a 60-1 turbo at 21 PSI with a 1.15 A/R backside, but to be honest, I think that represents a exceptionally good result and it might not be realistic for everyone to reach that with their car. A 60-1 is awesome for lower boost levels like 10-15 PSI though (better than a T66 in my opinion).

A T04R also might be worth checking into or maybe a Borg (Schwitzer) S300.... dunno as much about those two.

I can tell ya that you will have to upgrade your fuel system if you intend to go for that much power. At the very least, go for 850 primaries and 1600 secondaries with an upgraded pump.
