Best place to get my tranny rebuilt
Do you guys know of any rotary specialist that can rebuild fd trannys? I would like to get mine rebuilt.
Nothing is broken, yet, but it has a lot of miles on it, I want to get some preventative maintenace done. Who do you guys recommend, also if possible where can I pick up a new fd tranny, and how much do they cost. Thanx |
Pineapple I hear does a great job
|
http://www.kdrotary.com/ will do it too

I'm with PatFat. Pineapple all the way.

I've heard that KDR does good work, do they actually rebuild it or outsource it? Since Rx-72nr is on the west coast, I would recommend Pineapple as well. Rob's always been willing to take the time to talk to me, some people have had problems with engines and service there so I can't really tell you, but you wouldn't have to ship your tranny across the country that way.

go to the regional forums and find a rotary specialist in your area.
shiipping that shit half way round the country is ridiculous. |
mine is being rebuilt right now by a local tranny shop (Cottmans)... tranny rebuilds arent cheap.
They are installing a new clutch (i provided) Replacing 1st 2nd sliders (and gears) 3-4 sliders (and gears) Replacing all bearings. Replacing entire 5th gear set and changing out all of the snchro's. Final cost....... 1,901.80 cents... O.O I could of purchased a new tranny from Ray crow at malloy for 2300.... sheesh. |
i was under the impression pineapple would be a terrible choice since so many people complaining of bunk engines...
|
I think the "bunk" motors are not lasting due to bad tuning. I know of several people that have had nothing but great things to say about Pineapple. I don't hold much stock in all the gossip around here.

Search in the West Section. You live in So Cal. There are more rotary specific shops around you more than anywhere else in the country.
Tri-Point Rotary Power RRR MazdaTrix ... I am tired, but there are a handful more. |

But if you're not doing it yourself, it's totally unnessecary to find a rotary specialist to rebuild your tranny. I know it sounds crazy, but you should try to find a TRANSMISSION specialty shop. |
