Best oil cooler for an FD
 

I have a 1993 R1 and was basically just wondering who makes good oil coolers, and some opinions on which one is best. Any links to websites that sell them would be nice too. Thanks for the help.

If you have an R1 the stock dual coolers are already very good. To upgrade that you can go with Crooked Willow Racing (www.crookedwillow.com duals which are about 25% bigger, or Rotary Extreme Duals or Dual Mega Super Size (www.rotaryextreme.com). The standard size Rotary Extreme version is about the same size as the CWR, but does not include the carbon fiber ducts that the CWR include. The mega sized RE versions are just huge and with two, and the proper large opening nose, you'll have more oil cooling than you'll ever need. Heck, the stock R1 is probably more than you need as it is unless you track the car.

Do you have an oil temp gauge? If so, what are your readings? Do you regularly track the car?

I don't understand why you would be looking to upgrade the dual oil coolers (i.e. spend a #@$ load of cash) without evidence they were not performing well....

What about Greddy oil coolers? A bit pricey but may be they are worth it?
I saw them on RotaryExtreme website but I am sure JT Imports, Cork Sport, etc can get them as well.

I have a 93 touring so how much would it cost to put in a second stock oil cooler? Maybe I'll buy your second one off of you if you decide to buy new ones! PM me or something if you wish.

the oil cooler will cost you about 85 used and the lines another 30 or so. And then if you pay a shop to install it expect about 100 dollars maybe more.

Well, my oil isn't getting too hot right now, and I am not looking to buy any right now. I was just wondering who made some good ones for when I do upgrade them. I had been searching around and hadn't had any luck finding much. Thanks for your help though.

i think greddy made twin oil cooler kit for our fd. i think chuck is selling it on his site. rotaryextreme.

i've been looking at the rotary extreme oil coolers for my oil cooler upgrade whenever i get around to it. with those bad boys, i should never have to worry about oil temps again. talk about overkill :D

What about upgrading to the RZ 280 hp stock oil coolers from Japan? They are more expensive that the R1 coolers but give you that extra cooling margin and are stock bolt on.

I was thinking about a Fluidyne oil cooler for mine but don't know what thread size I need for it to work with the stock lines. Does anyone know if it's even possible?
