Best Mod I Have Done To My Car
Now I don’t have my car fully performances out like a lot of you guys have but I do have dp, midpipe, HKS cat back, pfc, datalogit, HKS twin power pack, fmic, intake, upgraded fuel pump, and now Garfinkle’s torque brace. The Garfinkle Torque Brace has to be the best mod I have done to my rx7. You can tell a huge difference just from the start. Everything just fells solid from the trans to the steering wheel.
When I first drove the car down the street I notice the steering was more responsive and the trans felt totally crisp and solid. Then I decided to really get on it and see what it really can do. In the past when I got on it going from second to third the shifter always went in to fifth gear. Now with the brace the car always hits third gear. Overall the brace is very well made with heave duty thick metal and the bolts are counter sunk in making it flush with the plate that goes on the side of the car. The other braces I have seen on other cars seem to be wimpy and the side plate is held on with only 3 bolts and with Garfinkle’s brace it is held on with 6 bolts and the metal seems to be thicker and better designed. Now I am not saying that his is the best but I highly recommend it. |

Torque brace is a must have , no more miss third gear shifts :) And its a cheap mod thats even better.
What HP are you at ? Once I hit 300rwhp the torque brace was a must, now at 440rwhp my stock motor mounts are the next thing to twist under load. |

Please explain how an engine torque brace improves steeering.
|
I had the one from RX7 Store, and it was rock solid, even with the dampner.
|
I need to get off my ass and install the poly engine mounts and solid diff bushings.
Braces = bandaid :) |

I agree with afterburn. The brace is *not* needed if you have upgraded motor mounts. I run the gotham poly mounts and also a diff brace. My fully rebuilt tranny helps as well I'm sure. My driveline is rock solid, with well over 400 whp. I recently drag raced the car and had no driveline movement at all.

Best mod that I ever did to my car was the "Steve Kan Tune" mod.
|
...yeah, any mod that you make to your car that helps it feel either more solid, or behave more like a new car (i.e. bushings, etc.) is really worthwile, if anything for the peace of mind it gives you. Unfortunately, I've been lazy and still have to do pretty much all of them...

True.... but this way is an easy way to do it and very inexpensive. I cant say how much motor mounts are. Plus the engine doesnt have to be lifted up to do. I have hear that motor mount work very well and I am going to put some in the future. All I am saying is I recommend it... |
Ya, post some pictures up asap.
