Best location for FPR?
 

Hi All,

I wonder where is the best location to place a after market fuel pressure regulator in a stock twin turbo engine bay? I saw some installation on the end of fuel rail on firewall side, wonder if there is other secure location to install?

I have mine there with no problems

theres no best location really. it can be put anywhere it fits. its up the user to decide where the "best" location is. what might be a good location for some might not be possible for others. put it wherever there is room.

^ I would add the caveat that it is installed AFTER the fuel rails. The FPR doesn't regulate any pressure on its return side, so if the OP were to install it on the line before fuel flows into his rails they would not be able to effect the pressure any.

I've seen some on the front of the intake manifold, so basically the inlet would go through both rails backwards from firewall to the front and to the regulator, than back to the tank.

I dont own an FD, but if it did, this is where id put it.

On a sequential turbo car I prefer to put it on the back of the secondary rail. You need an aftermarket rail and a -6 AN male to -6 ORB Union.

In front of the UIM, had to relocate the vacuum tank since I'm still running seq twins.

where did you relocate your pressure chamber and the turbo precontrol/wg control solenoids to?

You can kind of see it in this picture, the tank is mounted on the air pump bracket, it rests on top of the primary turbo intake elbow perfectly. I'm running a GReddy EBC so no precontrol/wg solenoids.

This. It's what I did. Still ran parallel rails.

I need to do this. It's soooo much cleaner looking. Less posible points of failure for leaks too, I haven't had the greatest luck with AN fittings.

they make conical seals for AN fittings if you've had bad luck. They work well.

I have the AEM FPR mounted on the rail on our automatic project car.

I have found those to be helpful on my -10 oil lines. I was able to fix my fuel lines ok, I still don't like the metal to metal seal for fuel personally. I had a small fire where my fpr return fitting leaked onto the twins exhaust manifold. It was easy to put out but it could have been a disaster. I'm contemplating switching to hose and barb fittings lol
