Before I attempt to install my new TCA Solenoid do I have to drain the coolant first.
I know this sounds like a stupid question I just want to be prepared.I am gonna install my new tca solenoid.I just want know what i am getting into before I do it.Do I have to drain the coolant and do I have to take the whole manifold off from the throttle body and over.
Thanks |
You don't have to drain your entire coolant. You will how ever have to remove your UIM to get to the solenoid. Just cap the coolant hoses and burp the system after you put it all back together.

You don't need to remove the extension manifold (UIM) completely. Just loosen it up enough for your hand to get @ the ACV (air control valve). Have a helper hold the extension manifold up. It's the only way to not have to disconnect the vacuum hoses and coolant lines. You just enough room between the extension manifold and ACV to swap out the old solenoid.

SleepR1 so u r saying just loosen all the bolts on the intake manifold enough so that my partner and I can just get a hand in by the tca solenoid. So u dont have to take the throttle body and etc stuff off.I thought they all were connected..Also would I have to replace the gasket?
Thanks for your input.. Kevin |
I just did it last week. I got a UIM gasket from Mazda before I did it, but it turned out that I didn't need it. I just did what FormerPorsheGuy said & I've had no problems. Good luck.

so u do not need a new gasket then

I don't think you will lose much coolant with the UIM right off anyway, and no need for a new gasket if it's in good shape(not ripped).

Thanks guys
