Wow, I wish my install was that clean.

RaPtOr-T 04-25-06 07:24 PM

Great writeup, but if you don't mind me asking...What is the fuse box for?

Waaay to long, somewhere between 100-200 hours, though most of that was researching parts, test fitting, test routing etc. The battery and fuse platforms also took a while to fabricate. Would probably take 1/4 that time if I were to do it again but there are a lot of small details that are time consuming.

To support the easy addition of extra electrical items. Is that not clear in the writeup?

Scrub 04-25-06 10:39 PM

is that sarcasm? I decided to go back and read the writeup after posting and figured that out. Seems like a logical reason for the box.

No sarcasm - I didn't detail attaching particular items in the writeup so was not sure if it was clear. Will probably add that eventually.

awesome write-up! lookin' to do this some time in the not too distant future.

minifreak 04-26-06 12:16 PM

Love this write up. I am not going to relocate the battery but is looking forward to doing the fuse box addition and tidy up the engine bay. This is a great reference.

TRISPEEDFD3S 04-26-06 12:45 PM

Bad ass, I like it, too bad I want back seats later. Great write up though. You should show a pic of how clean the engine bay is now.

Very nice writeup! Looks gorgeous

Looks great; 10X better than what we normally see.

The only thing I would have done diffrently was run the cable down the driver's door sill under the carpet, jump into the b-pillar and and then across to the passenger bin and the battery. The cable would be better protected that way IMO. Kudos to the gratuitous use of zip ties to dress the cable though.

Not 100% happy about the in-cabin routing. However, there was not enough space for the 0-gauge cable along the door sill unless I wanted a serious bulge in the carpet. I'm wondering if 4-gauge cable would make more sense for this project.

My car has many zip ties.

Will that battery fit with the turbo jeff tray? ANd where did you get it?

jkstill 04-26-06 08:02 PM

An excellent installation, and an excellent job of documenting it.

Thanks for taking the extra time for the pics and well thought out text.

Not only bookmarked, but saved to disk and backed up, so I will be sure
to have a copy for my winter battery project.

Yup - fits in the TurboJeff tray, with some space to spare. I ran with it for about a year in this tray. I think I bought the battery on eBay but you should be easily able to find vendors using a Google search.

Cool. The optima version is no longer available, so I'm looking for another brand.

Russo 04-26-06 08:25 PM
