Battery Relocation ?
 

ive searched before posting so dont rip on me there are many write ups of it but i cant seem to find any good pics, please post if u got, and ur opinions on whether I should put it in the trunk or in the rear passanger box

^^^ that's the write-up i'm using as my instruction guid when i do my relocation project.

i relocated mine to the trunk and i thought that that was the easiet way of doing it. I have a battery box and everything and allows you to use a regular size battery because i think the smaller ones have less CCA.

The smaller 51R sized and the (even smaller) Westco Miata batteries have sufficent CCA ratings so there is no need to use a large (and heavy - 36lbs) stock-sized battery. The only batteries people have reported having problems with on an FD are miniature batteries.

yes, I hate my PC680...it's a POS when you dont' drive the car much like I do. When I have my engine rebuilt soon I am having a battery elocate done.

I relocated mine to behind the driver seat. There's unused threads under the carpet to ground the negative, a precut hole with gromit and a perfect size for the Battery wire to slide up thru. I'm sure the passenger side has this as-well but it seemed easier to do it this way for me. Also, you can route the battery wire from the engine bay with the fuel line all the way to the rear seats. This was perfectly safe and hidden. Just MAKE SURE you install a Fuse inline with the Battery wire. Especially if you run it next ot the fue line lol.

Install should take a rookie about 1 hour. This is a must for any FD owner IMO. CLeaner engine bay!

My relocation took somewhere north of 100 hours.

I can't imagine even the shittiest half-assed relocation taking less than 10 hours.

Removing and reinstalling the bins (and all parts needed to get to them) is probably two hours alone, longer if you are doing it for the first time. There are lots of small details that can take hours each to resolve. Finding a way of attaching the battery securely to the chassis is a 5-10 hour project in itself.
