battery died.......help?

my big battery just died on me this morning, the good news is that im got my Greddy FMIC kit and need a smaller battery anyway. can anyone recommend a smaller battery that i can still keep up front with the most power possible? i have heard that odyssey batterys are slim but i dont know what model # to get or what other batteries are out there. any help will be appreciated.

Odyssey PC680

If you want good power and more room in engine bay...you may have to sacrifice front-battery-location just relocate the battery to your back trunk. a lot of writesup available on that.

is the power comparable to a regular sized battery? and where would be the best place to get one?

I don't have one but the PC680 is a popular item a lot of people have when they need more room or want cleaner look in the engine bay. It's argumentive but some say you need to crank the car at least once a week to keep the battery from dying out, get a battery tender...while other folks say it never dies on them even when not cranking for one week or so.

You can get them anywhere onlline...about $100+ something. I can't find one locally. Just for more info/notes...check out RE's old page (can't order from here...they closed):

and where can i get the metal tray/box from?

FDZero 04-07-07 09:51 AM

another option...basically same thing but different name: http://www.fighters-garage.com/mbk.html

in regards to the box...may have to look around for that...may find some in the classifieds section. :)

^^I was going to suggest that, great relocation kit.

Damn, we have had a bunch of battery threads lately.....

A PC680 is a last resort IMO, it doesn't have enough power to even run the fans after shut-off. A 51R is a great size and capacity for the FD. But it's whatever will fit with your front mount.....

Twinnos 04-07-07 02:09 PM

where can i find info on the 51R? thanks

rynberg 04-07-07 02:15 PM

What do you mean? It's a standard size battery available from any manufacturer.....please use the SEARCH function.....

mqt_hockey6 04-07-07 04:03 PM

PC680 is good to crank the car up and is designed for a drag car that makes one pass and then recharges without an alternator. I have the PC680 and my volts jump around while driving from 10-14v. I dont even have A/C, a working radio, and most of my electronics hooked up at. I would personally suggest getting something reliable like a optima red top and putting it in a custom box in the trunk. some say that the pc680 is only good too if you drive the car every 3 or so days because it loses a charge.

See 1st post. Im not looking for a standard size, i need a smaller one since im going with a FMIC kit. thanks anyway, no search needed.

rynberg 04-07-07 04:36 PM

I didn't say it was the stock size, I said it was a standard battery size (Honda Civic and other cars). It's available anywhere. A search would turn up pictures, etc, or a quick google check would give you dimensions. Any really small battery is going to have shitty capacity....if you can't fit a 51R under the hood, I would suggest relocating the battery.
