Bad news after dyno
Went to the dyno this evening and got 277rwhp and 228trq the tuner isn't that great with the rx's this is what we noticed
no boost until 4500 both accuators are closed at least we can tell that one is the only turbo that working is the secondary oneor both are spooling at once I...D...K... and you see 10 psi with a 12 psi spike tacing out at 7500 all vaccum lines look good maybe i need to trace every thing down and now I'm hearing a metal against metal noisebehind the y-piping and turbos well in that general direction this is still a learning experience to me plese help a lowly newb lol this is what has been done to the car 99 spec turbo upgrades Street port, 3mm seals, new housings and rotors from rotary perfomance Simplification 8-piece block off kit Bonez dp Bonez High flow converter GReddy SP cat-back GReddy Airinx intake Apexi PFC and commander Magnecor 10mm wires NGK #plugs Sx-6 fuel regulator 850x4 injectors RP comp fuel pump Pulsation damper Fuel Filter GReddy turbo timer GReddy smic IC pipping Efini Y-pipe RP power pulley SS oil lines Aluminum AST Fluidyne radiator and silicone hoses Water pump, thermostat, high pressure radiator cap Centerforce clutch, resurfaced fly wheel any suggestions would be greatly appreciated |
go somewhere else for your FD

that's a lot of mods for 277. I would suggest taking it to a rotary specialist.

KDR is probably the closest rotary tuning facility that has a dyno, for you. Dave is a whiz with tuning too. you should be seeing a good bit more power, and definately seeing boost before 4500RPMs.

If you get no boost til 4500rpm check your precontrol actuator rod end. IT sounds like the C clip that holds the rod on the precontrol door has come off and the rod has come off the precontrol door, thus eliminating boost under 4500rpm.

Found out the noise problem after stopping and checking everything a few quick revs noticed that it was originating close to where the bell housing is after a closer examination I noticed that the FRIGGIN BOLTS were coming out WTF!!! But after just putting a whole fresh set in it stopped. I'll get to the boost prob tomorrow morning thanks guys for you all really help out when someone is in a pinch.

Yes, do keep us updated on your boost issue.
For the most part, it can simply be a loose hose here or there. But, it gets a lot worse if it isn't something simple like that. http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm |

Well we got boost back the vacuum lines were crossed up and we noticed we had no pressure chamber for stored boost so we used some honda parts to take care of the job for now just a temporary fix to get by till we can go to RotorSports Racing in Kannapolis about 2 hours away from where we're located so hopefully we'll see a substantial increase in power and response after Bryan gets a hold of it. I'll keep you guys updated and if you guys can think of anything else it would be great. Thanks, James

Well I called Bryan up today and unfortunately he's pretty backed up (13 FD's) so I've call him back up Tuesday for further details on how to tackle this issue, but I'll keep you guys posted if you'd like.

How much HP would his setup make at say....13psi?
Reason I ask is because my setup is going to be very similiar to that one. |

With that set up, he should be looking at over 350 whp

As Barban pointed out, on stock (or even '99-spec) turbos, you're not going to achieve much top-end improvement staying at 10 psi. |

At only 10 psi? That's a negative, ghostrider...

He was responding to the question, "What would it make at 13psi." I'd still say 350 is a little hopeful, probably more around the 320 area.

PSHT!!! Forget going to Rotor Sport, I'm going to let Ray do his thing up at PF, it sucks that thats not going to happen until around.....Friggin October, but its well worth the wait in the long run. . .I hope.
|
I made 336 whp on pretty much the same set up at 14-15 psi with stock ports and stock turbos with 93 octane.
|
i am going to to get my car tuned and i have pretty much everything that this car has. I wanted to do 11psi for low boost and maybe a high boost setting on race gas if possibl. Will this work and what numbers should i be expecting with high boost??How how can i go for brand new 99 spec turbos?
|
I won't recommend pushing the stocker anything higher that 13-14 psi if you plan on keeping them for a while. Just get the BNR's.
|
Well I look at it this way, if I get up ther and they give me the go ahead then I'll keep the car and add on future investments down the road. BUT if I get bad news i'll either upgrade to single or get rid of the car and a 07 suby sti, good car for a college student in med school, warranty won't let me spend money and thats a good thing. . .for now ;-).
|
well if your interested in selling your car i am in the market so let me know how much and send me some photo's :)
|
Yeah man no prob just give me your e-mail and i'll send you what I got.
|
Well it's less than a week now before the big day. Is there anything that I can expect from Ray at PF so I'm not thrown off guard. I have talked to him a right good amount and he seems to be a genuinely intuitive and friendly guy. I guess I'm just nervous lmfao. I figured I'd give you guys an update on that.
