I could imagine a story involving the Cadillac (de Ville?), a driver of questionable fitness for driving, and a red light, but I really hope the that wasn't what happened.

Now that I've composed myself and cooled off emotionally as well as physically, here's what happened:

Believe it or not...That's exactly what happened...On my way to work this morning, driving normal, nothing crazy....I had a green light up ahead...Going the opposite direction towards me a white 1990 Cadillac Sedan Deville decides to make a last second left turn then changes her mind in the middle of the intersection...SMACK! I hit her directly in her front right wheel, then I pretty much bounced backwards 15 feet. My airbag went off and the rest is pretty much what you see in the pictures above.

The cops on the seen were very cool...they were actually really upset about my car, saying that the insurance company will probably total it because of the extent of the damage and the age of the car. I felt like crying...still do.

When the tow truck came, he started the car to move it back a little. As soon as he did that, Oil started pouring onto the street from the driver's side front corner....Everyone there said that the car was fucked because the engine must be cracked, but I'm hoping it was just the oil cooler.

It's at my body shop right now, which is next door to MazdaPros, my star rotary mechanic in South Miami. We'll see what happens. I'll keep y'all updated on the progress.

Thank you all for your kind words, as far as my personal injuries, besides abrasions on my arm from the airbag, there's really nothing to speak of, thank G-d. Hopefully the rest of my body won't be feeling it tomorrow morning.

The caddy was making a left turn?? = instantly her fault

You have the right of way. You had a green light, you were going the speed limit (im sure). It was her fault because she is making the turn.

It's most likely just the oil cooler. I'm surprised it didn't start leaking before that.

It's not going to be cheap, but it's fixable. Good luck.

Wow, that really blows man, I hope you werent too far into your car mod wise. Id advise not settling with the insurance company for a while, you never know if back pains etc... will show up a few months down the road. Hope everything works out for you in the end.

Yeah, my vote would be the oil cooler as well, since it is in the crushed area. It probably got pierced and as soon as they moved the car started to leak.

Wait a week, RX7 prices are sure to skyrocket in the wake of 3fast 3furious, or at least people will try and make them skyrocket. Make sure you do a lot of research, gather up receipts, etc, and hit the insurance company for all they're worth. Always remember you don't have to take their offer, they have to please you with their settlement. And sorry about your car, it'd kill me to see my 7 mangled like that.

Im new to posting on here but I wish you the best,man.It really is a shame when you have something you really care about and show it and then have it end up like that.Either which way,look forward to something better,cause there always is.

Hey bud, sorry to see such a mess. My RX7 (the one I call "Junkyard Dog") was damaged similarly by the previous owner. He then proceeded to let it sit for 3 or 4 years in a basement because he didn't want to file the insurance claim and get cancelled (he had a bad driving history and 2 or 3 DUI's). Over the 3 or 4 years it set in the basement, he half-ass fixed it back up.

And now I'm dealing with his mess. I've got one last mechanical problem to iron out, then do all the reliability mods, fix up the front end (maybe paint the whole car), and then I'll get serious with the engine. Oh well, this is project. You may have one too depending on what the insurance wants to do. Keep us posted.

Yeah..the 89 year old Caddy driver got cited for the accident. At least neither of us were hurt.

Man I'm sorry to hear that as well. I'm glad you are okay, but after having one of my FB's wrecked (not driving it either), I can only imagine the amount you are upset. I'm sorry.

Damn an FD is much nicer than a caddy. I hate stupid drivers but what I hate more is stupid drivers that hit a rare iconic sports car. I see why the cops were sad for you, you don't have to know Rx-7s to look at that thing and tell it's fast. good luck with everything and I'm happy you're ok. I know words can't do to much to help you right now but anyhting helps and all I can say is good luck.

That looks like downtown gables.... Is it? Too bad about the car, I know how much it sucks to crash. Now it is the best time to buy a new hood, body kit, sleek headlights. I know I regret not putting aftermarket parts.

Hey sorry abuot your car man! I don't like OLD people! But based on what I can see I think you might be ok fixing the car depepnding on where they look for a price estimate. I had similar damage to mine a couple years back where the hood, fender, and bumper were replaced along with the IC and some other broken engine parts and it only added up to $7k... You are allowed like 70% of the value or something by the insurance before they total it... Best of luck
