Backfiring -- How did YOU fix it?
 

I've read a ton of threads about backfiring. Causes have ranged from exhaust leaks to TPS adjustments.

What Fixed YOUR backfiring?

It would be a solid thread that listed Successful Fixes.

i would think its a tune no??? to rich???.....anyways i love when my shit back fires sounds nasty.....when i want to show off i hit the 2 step and rah rah rah POW back fire lmao.....

Interested to see what people say, does backfiring always mean rich mine seems to do it sometimes especially revving up to 3k and letting go it will pop pop is this safe for the car? could back firing be a sign of detonation? i like the sound but not if its hurting something i still have the main cat in.

How many threads are you going to make about stalling and backfiring??? Stick to one!

Why don't you give us a list of mods. There are a ton of things that could cause this. Describe the situation further in depth. More detail. For all we know we may be trying to help you fix what isn't broken...

love when my car back fires , why would you want to stop it.?

When I had my main cat (with aftermarket catback), I had backfires. When I did put a straight midpipe, no more backfires (almost never).

You backfire because your loading your exhaust up with fuel and the hot cat makes it backfire. Running rich causes it. Once I took out all my cats and went straight pipe with an apexi n1 can I dont bacfire anymore.

Would the age of the Cat make it more prone to backfire?
I get that it's unburnt fuel.

Straight pipe probably not an option since the 7 is already the loudest car on the street.

resonated midpipe , and highflow cat . you dont want to go striaght pipe unless you have an aftermarket ECU , ported wastegate to support the extra flow

It will backfire without a cat.

you have one of these cars and don't know why these things back fire? people install massive injectors in a tiny motor and rev the piss out of them which makes a very hot exhaust.

But seriously, the majority of a catalytic converters magic sauce is in the front of it. A couple good heavy episodes and you melt the magic sauce to itself. Then you have a hot honeycomb without its ability to combust excess hydrocarbons. A car will back fire more after that. Especially since your original issue that destroyed the catalytic converter is unresolved and dumping more fuel into the mix

a lean burn can also cause backfiring, if the TPS is out of adjustment or faulty then the ECU won't go into fuel cut properly. when the ECU detects a heavy deceleration condition it turns the injectors off, sometimes it will just give a single pop during that transition which is usually due to an overly rich cruising condition.
