Back of the FD

Can people sit behind the front seats in the FD?

Talek 04-28-02 07:26 PM

If they're midgets

RX7FD 04-28-02 07:33 PM

So then what are those things that look like seats behind the front seats?

oh man buddy, do some research
they're just little bins

Want2race 04-28-02 08:20 PM

I had 3 ppl in my FD this weekend.. 1 per seat and 1 lying in the trunk/across the bins... No seats will ever be practical in there!

RX7FD 04-28-02 08:48 PM

Of course they wont be practical i was just wondering cuz ive seen pics of those bins and i thought they are some crude seats. Sorry im a newbie.

JConn2299 04-28-02 10:09 PM

Some FD's in Japan and England came with upholstered seats in the rear, but the area is so small and cramped even small children would have a tough time fitting in there. Some U.S. owners have imported the rear seats and installed them. I wish Mazda had not installed the bins and had just left an open, carpeted area. It would have given a bit more storage room.

Ever see the back seat in a Supra? It would be worse than that ;)

c00lduke 04-28-02 10:19 PM

I had me and 3 other good size girls in mine the other night, just just expect to get off the line fast

Silex 04-29-02 03:20 AM

just just what?

user 84205 04-29-02 03:34 AM

Ya I had those seats in my FD, my girl sat long ways in them, thats about the only way you can fit someone back there. We tried once to get 4 people in there, even if you move the front seats all the way forward you still cant sit back there. I think they were made for looks NOT PEOPLE. I have a 7 point now, so they have been in the storage bin for some time now...

It's good to know that I am not the only one that has ever done this :)

I did it with my exgirl that was 5" and weighed liked 120lbs. How small was the person you stuffed back there? :p:

Wow! Your g-friend is only 5 inches tall?

You must have a very small tool

wonder1and 04-29-02 09:40 AM

Hi, my name is Tom, And I too have stuffed a person in the back of my FD... Oh wait, is this supposed to be AA style?

I took a couple guys from work to lunch and they took turns riding on that shelf. Both were about 5'6" and 150 lbs. This was when I first got my fd and they were very anxious to go for a ride.

LOL!
Sorry. I got that habit of mixing up " with ' :p: Ok ok, she was 5' tall!!!

2rotortt 04-29-02 12:57 PM

haha yea i had 3 people in my car once, one person laying in the hatch, underneath the strut bar with their head in between the seats. we designated that spot sitting "missile". if i ever had to break hard, or got in an accident it kinda explains itself.

5ft 7in... 140 lbs :o Let the chick ride up front in style and the friend in the rear!

R Xplicit 04-29-02 03:19 PM

try hanging a chick out the sunroof and a couple out of the rear hatch.it is funny.... it looks like you've 'bagged' your fd, and then the cool dudes with the air bag rides will let you into their parkinglot....hehehehe

Orange!FD 04-29-02 04:30 PM

"air bag rides"?

You can use the tiny bins for tiny buns?

If you remove the partition and lay them out back there, does that make them Bose scaggs?

fun

particleeffect 06-03-03 08:41 PM

jesus people, it'd probably be safer to put them in an open truck bed and drive around. pile the idiots in so they can die together when a gokart t-bones you and mangles the fd up like tinfoil. *sigh* come on people.

A friend and I fit 3 of us into his FD. We just did it the simple way though. He drove, I sat shotgun, and his girl sat on my lap. Now if the 3rd person was not female, this could have presented a greater problem.

twinturborx7pete 06-03-03 11:55 PM

Well in Japan, isn't it considered rude not to have backseats?
