AVC-R Guru's I need your help (Speed Sensor)

Last Sunday I installed my AVC-R on my FD, and noticed everything was working right except the speed reading was out of whack. It reads somewhere around -40 to +40 over the actual KmH. I went exactly as the Apexi Wiring says. I tried to change the settings on the "Car Type" throughout all the options with no luck. I second and third checked the white wire to make sure it was in the correct ECU plug, and even soldered it to make sure I had a good connection with no results. Is there anything I may be missing? Any help is appreciated.

What color wire was it?

machinis 02-04-04 08:39 AM

On the ECU? I am not sure, but it was the 5th top wire from left to right on the last plug on the ECU.

On the AVC-R, it was the white one.

Anyone? I noticed that the readings are a little more accurate in 4th gear, but the rest are way off.

Did you set up your gear judge?

In one of the setting screens, it'll list 1st, 2nd,etc.
then on the far right, there is a number. Cruise along in first gear and the number on the right should read 125 or in that vicinity. Set 1st gear to that number.
Here are mine (and should be everyone elses.)

1st=125
2nd=070
3rd=049
4th=035
5th=025

That should take care of your problem.

Thanks for the numbers, but that is not the problem. I can input those numbers to the AVC-R, but it is going to do me no good because the boost controller will not be able to set the psi per each rpm/gear band. It is the actual reading on the KmH and also in the Gear Judge, where the N/S is indicated. Are your readings somewhat sable or do they jump all over in a +-40

Mine reads just like a digital speedo :)

I'm not sure if I understand what you are trying to say. The numbers on the gear judge screen should NOT be your actual speed. It's a univeral way for the computer to figure out what gear ratios are on your car and match it with your speed sensor output pulses.
Maybe you have some bad wiring and it's making intermittent contact?
Does everything else work correctly?

Yes, I iunderstand that the numbers in the gear judge are not the actual KmH.

I am guessing that it may be a bad wire, but if it would be a bad wire, I would not get a perfect reading in 4th gear. 4th gear is perfect under 60Kmh; anything over 60KmH, both gear judge and KmH go just as crazy as any other gear. Any other suggestions? C'mon, I know we are not the only AVC-R owners on this site.

Bump!

I am still having problems. So far, I realized that my cruise control is not working properly either. It feels like it's trying to accelerate and decelerate for approx. 5 seconds, and then shuts down. Additionally, my odometer is not working. But what kills me, is that my speedometer works perfectly. My question: Does the speedometer gets the same signal as the cruise control?

Getting a little desperate here guys. Still same problem. :banghead: I was reading through 2nd Gen's and it seems some of them have the same problems.

I have a similar problem. However, mine reads anywhere from 0 - 2800km/h (max so far). This is the case until I reach 48km/h at which point the speedo on the AVCR matches the speedo on the dash and PFC accurately. What I don't understand is, if the PFC reads it accurately under 48km/h, then why doesn't the AVCR!!

I haven't had a chance to work on it yet, as my car is under reconstruction (another blown engine story). I will post as soon as I find out what's wrong.
