Avc R

Hey guys. My A'PEX AVC R came today, and I wanted to know where some of you guys mounted it. (by 'it' i mean the actually control unit) I would love pictures if possible.

From what I have heard those are much better at leaning making our engines leaner rather then richer.

But since I hate to see someone post something and not get an answer to a legitimate question, here you go.

I spent the extra *bling* and went with the PFC for piece of mind.

AVC R = boost controller
not fuel controller
therefore
can not "lean" an engine
how do y0ou say water backwars?

I think FormerPorscheGuy just got the idea of what it was wrong...I get them confused too - the Apex'i AVC-R and the Apex'i AFC V-tech...

Anyone else have pictures or ideas of where to mount it? I really don't want to put holes in my dash. Is there a way to run the wires up the middle A/C duct? (if I knew of an accecible place to drill into the duct I'd be set) That way I can run the wire out the duct, won't be pretty, but when and if I remove the unit I won't have any visible holes.

This is the boost controller, but any A'PEX unit mounting proceedure will be the same as they all look almost identical and require the same mounting considerations.

So are you saying that the AVC-R can't be mounted in the position of the PFC on robinett's site?

Damn dude, take it easy

Some folks mounting it in the second din below the stereo..aparently it fits perfectly in there..

Engberg 03-15-03 06:21 PM

Yeah, that is where I would put it if I wasnt happy with the stock system. I've always thought that stock stereo 'look' better as they were designed for the interior. Obviously I'm not a 'sound' person :D But I may look into that more as it will be the cleanest install possible.

If i put it where the Commander is, it would stick out much further as it can't be mounted vertically like the commander, and I think it would run the potential of being knocked off by the passanger...what do you think!? Haha, I haven't put it all together so I'm thinking about it without it physically being in the car. Just like to have an idea of the end install before I start.

I put mine in the pocket under the stereo. You do have to cut the pocket up to fit it in there, but I'm really happy with how mine turned out. You can't see it at all with the door closed on the pocket -- the light doesn't even shine out around the edges at night. Pics and info here:

Using an empty DIN slot seems to be the cleanest way to go. hmmm.... Maybe it is high time to replace that stock system :D
