auto motor vs manual motor 13b need help
 

not sure if this is the right place but yeah

i recently purchased a 95 13b that came out of an automatic rx7 befor i bought the motor i did research and called some shops and every answer i got was no differences so i purchased the motor. once i got it i pulled my manual 13b from my 93 rx7 and compared the motor. they are different apparently the starts mounts different the back plate of the motors are completely different. the left side of the back plate is different the top is aswell. and maybe four of the trans bolts will line up. so my question is, is there any other differences between the two motor beside the wiring harness and what was listed above? also could i just swap the rear irons or is there more to it than that?

also i was recently told the wastegates might be different or differently tuned. can anyone confirm this?

the only real difference should be the rear iron, starter and some part of the wiring i believe

Don't swap the rear iron. You can mate a manual transmission/starter to an auto engine. How do you think the guys who do the auto/manual swap get by? ;)

You need to install a Pilot bearing and a seal, then either the stock flywheel or pick up an ACT to mount to the auto CW. http://banzai-racing.com/store/93+_r..._flywheel.html

Do not change the rear housing, it will bolt to the manual trans just fine. Use the manual starter, you just need to get a shorter bolt to replace the long one.

so your saying i need to keep the auto counterweight and get a light flywheel or i can remove it and install my factory pressure plate and it will work with out the counterwieght? also what do i a pilot bearing and seal for?

You can either install a lightweight flywheel on the auto CW or install your factory Flywheel.

Pilot bearing and seal support the input shaft on the trans. Look at your original engine, there is a pilot bearing in the eshaft.

all 20b's come auto. not many go back in with an auto. my car has a few extra trans bolt holes but nothing to be alarmed about. just dont forget to install the pilot bearing.

somewhat on topic here, can you use the auto bell housing bolts to attach the manual trans for a 5 speed swap
