ATR exhaust install help......please?

So I'm installing my bright and shiny new ATR exhaust today and ran into one snag. On the actual muffler part there are two brackets welded on, one on each side...

And as you can see by the pic they aren't your standard brackets for those rubber hanger pieces. They have holes for bolts, and I have the bolts...but where in the fuck do they bolt to?? The bracket with two holes has NOTHING even close to bolt it to, and the other bracket has one of the stock hanger brackets above it, but I obviously can't bolt the muffler bracket to it...WTF?

So what am I missing? Am I just stupid or something? Oh, BTW the 'instructions' included mention nothing of these brackets.

Thanks for any help guys.

Oh, check this out...I guess they weren't lying when they said this exhaust flows within 99.99% of a straight pipe! Can't wait to hear what it sounds like!

ATR makes good stuff, call 'em ... they may have made a mistake. (send them this link)

Yeah, I don't think they made a mistake...they have a picture of their RX7 exhaust on the website and it's identical to this...

anyone?

let me know how it worked out for you, i just got a mindtrain midpipe and it has the same style hanger.

I really have no idea how its suppose to go on, but maybe you acn rig it. Stick the rubber hager on the car, then put one of the bolts through the hanger on the ATR then have that bolt go through the rubber hanger, then stick a nut on it. Kinda ghetto, but it'll work unitl you figureout how its really suppose to go on there.

The last pic going through the muffler is badass. :D

My friend is an ATR dealer and we've put many exhausts on. Usually they send some angled metal that bolts to the brackets and then goes to the factory bracket. Sorry, i know this doesn't help, but check to see if there are any other brackets or pieces that you might've missed. I haven't put an RX7 exhaust on by them yet.....tons of other cars.....they do use a wacky way of mounting on most of their kits.

on the left side you are missing the rubber hanger, all you need to do is put the rubber hanger on and put that long bolt throw the hole of the rubber hanger and the hole on the hanger coming off the muffler, on the right side i looks like you are missing the brackets that come down from the right side exhaust hanger, i would help you out more but i sold my 3rd gen with an atr cb but i will be getting another soon within 2 months :)

Okay guys, I did as you said with the bolt and bracket. I really had to force the exhaust towards the right side of the car to get the bolt through...but it helped cause the pipe was banging against the differential before...

But what about the other bracket? Before this I had the HKS Super Dragger (BIIIIIIIG can), maybe before that there was a bracket for the other side that they took off to fit the fart can in? Will someone with a stock exhaust check to see if there is supposed to be a bracket there??

TIA

thats a possiblity. looks good though.

purepsi 05-02-02 01:21 PM

yes, there is supposed to be a bracket on the right side coming off of the hanger, you need to find one or make one out of sheet metal, that should work out just fine.
