Ast or Thermostat problem?

here's my situation, i've been having this problem were water seems to shoot out of the reservoir tank. only happends once in a while after a short or long drive. you can hear the water boiling as it squirts out the reservoir hole on the coolent bottle. it's seems like the ast is sending the water back to the coolent tank and overfilling and dumping through the res. hole!!!!

any help would be appreciated!

driving me crazy it has a fresh rebuild with under 300 miles on it. and dont want my baby to overheat and boom!

did yiu replace your caps when you did the rebuild ? Are they one the right place (nonpressure cap on the fill neck, pressure cap on the AST) is the thermostat new with the rebuild, what mix are you using are your fans working properly ? Does the coolant return from the recovery tank to the cooling system or does it just go to the tank and your adding fluids ?

make sure the nonpressure cap is on the fill neck & pressure cap is on the AST. Top off then burp the system.

How hot is the car getting? What temperature gauge are you using? You shouldn't ever hear coolant boiling while the engine is running.

well it started when the hose from the ast popped off during normal driving! ever since the car started spilling coolent from the res. hole. i bought new caps and new hoses and still the same problem. my mechanic says the everything is new w/ warrenty.

my temps are contantly under the 1/2 way marker on the oem gauge. and my coolent sounds like it boils when i turn it off not on.

thanx scotty305 after reading that and speaking to gazo my mechanic it seems i need to burp the system. so ill do that and let you guys know what happends!

thanks before hand for your help fellows.

Gmo.

The OEM temp gauge is a useless, it doesnt tell you your overheating until its too late. I would defintely buy an aftermarket water temp gauge, anything is better than the stock one..
