ast cap and radiator cap?
so i swapped radiators and got the two caps mixed up. the cap with the spring is which one and the cap without the spring is what?
spring = ast
o shit i had it backwards for a couple miles. lol. what could happen if it were the other way around?
nothing until the engine gets too hot. then the water would go on the ground and not the overflow tank
the one with the little wings and the spring goes on the filler neck, doesnt it? and the plain looking cap on the ast. the one that says NEVER REMOVE.? or am I wrong..
thats how i had it. i looked at my buddys today his was sping in the ast which made me confused? He lust got done putting his engine bck in, which me think his might be backwards. my car hasnt acted up.
boostscoop is yours the same way i had it?
I just looked at a picture and the one with the spring was on the ast.. im going picture hunting.. h.o.. but the one with the sring on my car is on my filler neck.. MAYBE thats why im losing coolant?.. brb
its all you baby.... idk wtf is going on
so urs is the same??
spring = ast.
that is why the hose goes from the AST to the overflow. once the coolant is hot enough to create enough pressure and push on the spring the fluid will flow into the overflow. The other cap is just solid and will not bleed off coolant. Think about where the fluid should go when it gets too hot. No need for picture hunting i just said where it goes. |
ok yea that makes perfect since i gotta lay off the gonja lol
at this current time the cap with the spring is on my fill neck, the non spring one is on my ast.. ive been losing coolant, seems like this might be my problem.
yes it could be. if your car gets hot enough to boil over then it will go on the ground and not the overflow. You might try running a higher psi cap also. i like using a 16 psi instead of the 13 psi stock. This gives a little higher boiling temperature to keep the water in the engine/radiator where it can do its job of cooling.
