Ast...

what are the consequences of removing the air separator tank

I was curious about that too. Some people said they havn't had any problems. Infact I havn't heard of any problems directly related to removing the AST, but if you have the stock one in and it breaks...there goes all your antifreeze. I upgraded instead of removing, I figured mazda put one in there for a reason.

My thoughts also - and I upgraded with the same AST.

I have heard of no problems from people who have removed the AST, but by keeping it I get to hold more coolant than I do without. Definately replace your stock AST for an aluminum one before your stocker blows its wad.

Haven't heard anything bad but we all know a rotary needs all the coolant you can give it.

good info here. I installed the pettit AST. It's so far bullet-proof and I no longer have any gurgling coolant/heatsoak noise upon shutdown.
