Apexi FMIC owners - I need some pics
Hey guys -
I have an Apexi front mount that's fixin' to go on my car. Please, no FMIC debates in this thread! I'm going to be doing some pioneering work hopefully with the FMIC. That said, I got the kit with pretty much none of the brackets that come in the kit - there are brackets for relocating the radiator and AC condensor. I did find a thread where someone posted a bunch of pics of how the AC condensor is relocated with the brackets, which was a HUGE help. Pics of the radiator brackets would be SUPERB - that's one area I don't have much to go on. I'm asking because I'll be fabbing up all those brackets, and I want to make them as correct as possible. I've tried asking Apexi if they would sell them separately, but I might as well have asked my dog :). So, any pictures or anything would be GREATLY appreciated. Or, if you have some extra brackets, let me know :). Thanks, Dale |
If you don't get any responses, try PM'ing RTS3GEN. He has the Apexi and may be able to take some shots.

Sorry Dale, I have the Blitz or I'd be glad to help you.
Just wanted to say, your website is great. I plan to use it to help me R&R my pillow balls soon :) |
Thanks :). I really dig the Blitz FMIC as well, but I got a SMOKING deal on my Apexi.
Do you have any pics of the Blitz install? I think they're similar - if nothing else it could give me some ideas. Dale |
I don't have any experience with the Apexi FMIC but here's a copy of the manual... not sure it you've seen it already or if it will be of much help even(the drawings aren't the greatest).

Thanks - yep, I've got the manual, I must have read through it 20 times. I also have all the pictures I could find of that intercooler on the forum saved to a folder.
Keep it comin', guys! :) Dale |
Bump for the nighttime...

Here is a site that shows a blitz install:
http://www.turborx7.com/blitzfmic.htm Might be helpful to you. |
Here is another promising thread:

You will need to cut a portion of steel on the pasenger side close to the headlight that interferes with the intake pipe of the FMIC. You can do it with a dremel and "ALOT" of patience and a bunch of little cuttign wheels otherwise a sawsall may be which but not cleaner. Maybe both, touching up with dremel.
Most of the brackets are for the condensor underneath at about 15 degree angle. You need to remove the center section of the undertray that is riveted on and it tucks inside of there. The dryer is mounted to the side of the radiator using the oem mount (fluidyne wont work). I beleive Koyo reuses those mounts but Fluidyne and maybe others have brackets welded on that can't be rotated. I custom mounted my radiator at an agle isntead of verticle because I dodn't like it so low under the car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...r/dscn0057.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...r/DSCN0107.jpg I'll have to check my camera for more pics. |

Thanks a bunch for the feedback, guys!
GoRacer, thanks for the pics - I already had the 1st pic saved in my big folder of Apexi FMIC pics, but I hadn't seen the second - thanks! That helps me see the bracket better. Any more pics you have would be super - if you don't want to bother posting them in the thread, you can e-mail them to me at rx7guru@clubrx.org Bigcox (uh, huh-huh :)) I'll PM you here in a sec - thanks a bunch! Thanks everyone - any more help is mucho appreciated! I'm getting pretty close to the install, and I plan on doing one SERIOUS writeup on it. I've been doing a LOT of prep work and parts ordering for the Big Day - I plan on doing a really slick job with this install. Dale |
