Apexi BOV
1 Attachment(s)
I was going through a box of extra parts I got when I bought my 7 and I found this Apexi BOV (I attached a pic). I was thinking about hooking it up, but I'm not sure on mounting location or if I even need/want it hooked up. I'm still running the twins so maybe you peeps can answer this for me. Is anyone using this BOV? If so how do you like it. Post some pics of how you have it mounted that would also be appreciated. Thanks!

First off, there's no need for an aftermarket BOV with the twins, the stockers work just fine.
I have heard from many sources that the Apexi BOV is leaky and has sealing issues. Really, just not worth it. Dale |
Thanks Dale. You da man! :icon_tup:

I have one and have been using it since 2003 without issues. They originally provided a kit which had a flange to mount it and use the stock y-pipe connection. Technically, pretty much all aftermarket BOV's close sooner than the stock BOV, thus making the turbos more responsive. That means there is some benefit to replacing the stock BOV. However, that benefit is not a large one but it is there (as Garfinkle used to replace the spring on the stock BOV to give the same benefit without replacing the entire BOV). |
I picked up one used and it has worked fine. I prefer it bc it sounds more stock instead of the more attention grabbing "chirp" BOV sounds.

Did you run the hose to the same port the stock ABV was connected to Mahj?

I had one on my old FC. Worked great; no issues.

I had one before I went single. It came with the flange as well. I liked it, no annoying high pitch whine, and it didnt leak on me either.
I ditched when I went single for an hks. I wish that I should had kept it because I HATE the sound of the hks. |
