did a search...found lots of opinions...just wondering about this specific one...lol, they are probably all made by the same company

Mp0629 09-08-06 08:45 PM

I had this shifter in my last FD and I have it now in my current FD, I think it works great, bolts on perfect, gets the job done and no problems with it yet. For the price you can't go wrong.

VegasFD 09-08-06 08:46 PM

I'm a very cynical person, and I think price=quality. So based on that equation it's a POS.

MakoRacing 09-09-06 05:20 PM

looks like a copy of a B&M

FDNewbie 09-09-06 11:11 PM

Don't be surprised when you're shifting, and one day the shift leverl snaps in your hand, only mm's above it's base. Good luck shifting at that point! (And yes, I've seen it happen first-hand)

CantGoStraight 09-10-06 02:11 PM

Say what you want but I've been running this EBAY copy of the B&M shifter for going on 7 years without issue, It's been to the Drag strip and spent plenty of time on the Auto-X courses, a few track days and even some rough street use. Just because it cost more doesn't always make it better (different stores same item different prices) just cause you pay more ? ? ?

Jack, simply said, you drive like a wuss... (I'm just playin man :D)

I've been looking at it , for the money I dont mind reying it ?

Mp0629 09-10-06 08:51 PM

Who cares, for the price buy it, use it, and if it breaks just buy another one.

Monsterbox 09-10-06 10:01 PM

is it any shorter?

The B&M shifter has a much tighter feel than the ebay ones.

You can find used B&Ms for 120. In my opinion, they are definitely worth the extra money. I have conducted a back-to-back comparison and there was no contest.....I knew exactly where that extra 100 bucks went.

LOL,That being said can you get me a price on a 5th. gear syncro and the main shaft input bearing. My input shaft main bearing is starting to howl on the tranny I currently have in the car and the tranny I was going to put in till I get it fixed needs a 5th gear syncro. So I'm doing some comparrison price shopping on these parts.

Quickfini 09-11-06 05:48 PM

$19? damn haha. I remember someone on here tried an ebay shifter and it rattled like hell after a little while. I've had my Mazdaspeed shifter (2nd owner of it) for 4 years and it hasn't rattled at all yet.

mono4lamar 09-11-06 07:27 PM

^^^ the rattle problem is not from any shifters.... theres a website with info on this. its the car not the shifter. they even tried changing things out and shifters that did not rattle in one car and put it in... still rattled. so dont go by the this one rattled or not. i've heard good things about every short shifter out for the 7 i guess its a metal attaction so its up to the user.

That's what they say, but, on my car Gotham rattled badly, Cs is quiet and flawless. Same car, no other changes -- fwiw

mono4lamar 09-17-06 06:54 PM

^^^^ strange but tipical... all rumors are never completely true. i believe what they say for the most part. you seem to be a further test subject and acually put success to the ratio. where did you get your c's anyway? how does it compare as tightness and shift feel to the gotham? :)

Rufio 09-17-06 07:16 PM

i have the gotham racing short shifter, it has a little play in it but i like it

jic 09-17-06 09:02 PM

20 bucks for a short shifter?
id say you get what you pay for :D

Rixio_Scon 09-18-06 05:10 AM

I have an almost identical one to this...cost me £60/$100 there is play in it because it doesnt have the little yellow thingy to go on the end to stop it wobbling or vibrating but it feel clunky and heavy which is what i like. The shortness is very noticable immediately...cuts throws in half...i have found though that in 4th shifting up to 5th too quickly can cause the gears to grind for some reason...:s

If your 4th to 5th shift grinds, you prob have a broken 5th gear synchro ;) (Search on it; it's a common problem).

Rixio_Scon 09-18-06 06:04 AM

Its only if i shift hard & fast though...never used to do it with the stock shifter
