Anyone thats Installed an Aftermarket Fuel Gauge FD
 

Hey guys what wire did you tap into for the signal wire on your gauge for the fuel level sender. I cant find it I've been lookin for weeks. Its a 1993 FD

Fuel LEVEL? Not many people run an aftermarket fuel level gauge. You sure you don't mean fuel pressure? The fuel level gauge on the dash works great.

That said, you typically can't just tap into a wire for a fuel level gauge - different tank senders are calibrated differently, so an aftermarket gauge would need some electronics tweaking to get a proper reading.

Mine doesn't work that great. When at E I go to fill up and only fill 15 gallons. Is that normal. I have yet to get it to the point where the low fuel light turns on for fear that it doesn't work. At what point does the light turn on.

Well all fuel senders work on Ohm's so I picked the one that was closest which was 73 - 0 Ohms. I just need to finding the fuel level signal wire but I cant seem to locate it.

I replaced all the gauges in the dash thats why I did the fuel also. I just totally got rid of that POS flux circuit back there.

Well, that POS flux circuit works fine for 99% of the FD owners :).

The wire should be clearly outlined in the shop manual. Wiring diagram C1-A shows the circuit - the white/green wire goes to the sender in the gas tank, blue goes to the low fuel sender.

Boosted - that works as advertised. Get it down to the E mark, and soon the fuel light will come on, at that point you have around 2-3 gallons in reserve. Totally normal.

Thanks Dale I'll give it a try.

I've never filled more then 16gal when below empty and you can burn out the warning light from driving below empty too many times.

If you replaced the speedometer which includes the odometer you're title will be ruined stating unkown/unverified milage.
