Question Anyone ever had problems with their Air conditioning unit??

It seems as though I have a small leak of freon somewhere. I had it filled and it only needed barely 1/4 of a can. It blew cool, but now it is hot as hell when sitting at a light (only during the day). Maybe topping it off again caused the leak to get worse?? I've never had that problem as long as I've owned my car. Could it just be a leak in one of my hoses or what?? Anyway, I will be having it checked out first thing Mon. Morn.

I think I have a leak somewhere too. My a/c just quit on me yesterday. DO you get a hiss when you turn it on or is it just not cold? I don't know much about the ac problems but need to know as well. Anyone?

Mine was doing the samething.I had a small pin hole leak on top of my compressor. The mechanic was stumped cause there's nothing on top of the compressor to leak.HE charged it,then used a freon leak indicator and found it was on the top, then poured some water on it and sure enogh it was coming from that crease on top of the compressor.Have to replace the compressor.

A/C Compressor

I bought it from the dealer i have an account with Mazda. i am in in the automotive business i guess that helps but if your looking for a cheap one go to a auto recycler or junkyard in your area. If that doesnt work then look on-line at someone who deals with used parts for mazdas. Hope that helps.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's a leak from one of the lines. I had noticed it wasn't blowing cold as usual so I went and had the freon topped off for free from a friend. It blew cold immediately and thought it was fixed. Now, it's back to blowing "cool" not cold as it should. I think the freon may have leaked out again. It blows cold as **** at night....even during the day when on the roll. I notice when it does blow hot I can tell it takes a while for the compressor to kick on. What could be the cause??

That explains the abnormally high UV index in your area.

A/C

It sounds like you have a leak then cause if the compressor only comes on once and a while then that means there is not enough pressure or refrigerant in the system. Have a a/c repair place inject a dye in the system and replace what is leaking. Its got to be done at a shop though . Hope that helps!

Yeah I have A/C problems in my FD. When I went to pick up the car the owner said the A/C was blowing out hot air only and that he was fixing it at the dealer. When he got it back it went right into my hands... so the A/C was nice and cold. At the beginning of the trip home above "2" was too cold, but towards the end of the trip I had it up on "4" and thought damn this isn't much colder than before. When I got it home I keep the windows down around town and didn't use the A/C. Probably a week after I got the car I went to get the windows tinted. After that I couldn't roll down my windows for the first few days. Just my luck... the A/C would only blow out hot air again. I have a warranty and will get the A/C looked at but I have just been busy doing other things to the car and not stressing the A/C as much.

LOL 7-sins! That exact same thing happened to me last summer. I bought my 7 and it blew cold. So, the next day I went and got the windows tinted. On the way home from getting them tinted, it stopped blowing cold...completely. The real bad news is I live in Texas and it was August. I don't know if anyone remembers the heat wave we had last year, but it was over 100 degrees every single stinkin day. I literally thought I was going to pass out driving that thing home and to work for the next 2 days without being able to roll down the window. I think I lost 8 pounds.

Maybe its good luck. 130,000 miles and 9 years and most of them in Houston with no problems at all.

It's obvious that tinting your windows causes the problem......
