there's a thread in the lounge on the consequences of removing your cat, you can check that out

for the last three weekends of driving, i haven't been pulled over, but who knows how long?

my system is relatively quiet, but i don't know about yours

just keep it on neutral or below 3k rpms when you spot a police turn your engine off if you ever get pulled over
put your heat shield back on, with exhaust wrap as inside lining

g/l

hey yomama, what kind of set up do you have right now? Can I check it out sometime? Im gonna be running a fully opened up exhaust pretty soon, but unsure of how it will sound. It's gonna be sleeper style with intake, DP, MP, but with a stock exhaust (I want the A'pex GT but A'pex-usa is screwy these days)

Resonated midpipe is an option to silence it a bit. Also, it's gonna be a little more dirtier than usual on your bumper where the exhaust comes out. My 2 cents.

hey blackR1,

my set up are bonez dp and mp, and Greddy PE

it doesn't sound very loud on a roll or in traffic, but does sound like a chopper on the driveway or anyplace isolated

i've been wanting to meet some cool fd owners, i saw two fds at tapioca express: white with hks stickers, and black with RE stickers, didn't really want to say whats up since i didn't have my fd, and they'd probably think i was a fast and furious fan or something and i have never been a fan of stickers unless its backed up by someone who payed for all of my mods and installs, namely me "beyond limits"

at the moment i have 18s on all four, so i suck at cornering until i get thinner tires up front or swap the stock ones or borrow 17s from a friend of mine

i can run straight line, and damn i tested the power on the 91 fwy and that **** pulled, an NA supra owner followed me eventually and gave me a thumbs up

i do want to run, just name the place, but it has to be where there isn't that many kill joys, pm with info

KZ1,
I've had the DP, MP, N1 CB setup on my car for about two months and before I blew up the engine(which was "caused by" the full 3" exhaust) I drove around with it for quite some time. I noticed that the car is VERY loud under WOT. I mean loud enough to wake up people a few miles down(seriously), but it can be "very" quite if you get used to it. What I mean is that once you get used to they way it sounds at given rpms then you'll be able to adjust how loud it is by changing the rpms. I used to keep it between 2200 and 3000 rpm when I wanted it to be the quietest. Below that, it drones alot and is a little louder. Above that, and be ready for hell to break loose. I'm going to be installing the silencer to create some backpressure(so I don't blow my engine again) and hope to drop the noise level even more. If you don't mind having to look for the "sweet"(quiet) spot then go for it. When you want to be noticed though, you won't have "any" problems!!

I'm going with a DP, MP and looking for a cat-back now. I've heard how that sounds with a N1 and I love it. Like was said above, you can make it "quiet" when you want or you can let the gates of hell come right out of the exhaust. Just what I'm looking for :d

I know there are some advantages to having more back presure, I am thinking that my engine really doesn't breath enough for open exahuse I don;t have a ported mortore, just the mods below, couldn't a resonated midpipe as some backpressur eas well, why did you choose to use a silencer?

KZ1,
The reason why I want to add some backpressure back into my exhaust is so that I can control boost better. Before I blew the engine I had the turbos set to 15psi and I had a ported wategate as well and I would still get boost creep in 3rd and 4th gears, which caused my engine to go. I think the silencer is the best solution cause it will only restrict the flow "very little", but will add a small amount of BP which I am looking for. The only other way would be to change the CB, but I really like the N1 and don't want to do that. As for the resonated midpipe, it adds no BP whatsoever. It's only used to try and keep the noise down.

I got pulled for my n1 dual...but not for noise...because in CA there are new laws that say any modifications to vehicle emissions are illegal or some crap...I read the laws posted on the forum and will be fighting the ticket as it seems to me that the n1 dual is emissions legal.

you may get a tik...but the first fixit is cheap....Id risk it for the short term and keep the cat just in case.

Cat-back systems, for the most part, are almost always emissions legal. There's nothing in them that affects the emissions anyway, hench the name 'cat-back'. You should have no problem fighting the ticket, of course Cali is all bass ackwards when it comes to laws, and hell, even daily life, ha ha. Cali's really a decent place, but I'd NEVER live there. To many laws against car enthusiasts there for me to get along
