Any rebuild's from Bruce Turrentine?

I need to have my engine rebuilt and this guy looks pretty reputable. Anyone heard of him? I saw him advertised on the Rotary Aviation site.

buy his video and DO IT YOURSELF, so much more inexpensive. i just bought two of his videos last month and now are preparing to rebuild mine. he has one video on a detailed step by step process on how to get the engine out of the car, and then of course the other one is on how to rebuild the actual engine itself. id say that would be the best way to go, but if your not up for it and have the extra money im sure you can find someone good to to the rebuild

I'm not sure I'd have all the available tools like micrometers and such. I was thinking of Bruce to rebuild but didn't know if he just specialized in building rotaries for aircraft. Just wondering if I shouldn't go with someone like Pineapple, Atkins, Gotham, Pettit, or Mazdacomp.

he is one of the most knowledgeable people around for rotary engines. he mainly does aircraft engines, but he will also do 13Bs. When I was at his place last time, he had 2 engines for FCs built and ready for pickup and one for a FD ready for pickup.

I've talked to him about car and aircraft applications and it's just so obvious he knows so much.

i have to say IF i knew nothing about the rotary engine, and never saw under the hood of my FD before, just from the two videos that i bought i could rebuild the motor with ease(there just that good!), and gettin ready to do it this month comin up, cant wait!!!

Yeah I think I'm going to buy the video on removing the engine and then ship it to him to rebuild. Talked with him this morning and he does seem very knowledgable.

He's THE BEST.

Not inexpensive, but at least you know an engine he builds will stay together for a looooonnnng time.

Pulling the motor is much harder than rebuilding it. Just get the videos and rebuild it yourself. I promise it's easy. Getting the motor out is the worst part. He tells you all the tools your gonna need, they can all be purchased off ebay for pretty damn cheap. But if you still dont want to do it yourself, I would have to recommend a turintine rebuild. After all, he did make the video.

the only downside about the video is "reliving" 9-11.

You can here snips of news reports on the radio in the background. i'm not sure if it was actually on 9-11, or the next day...

Crazy_Jake 06-24-04 08:03 PM

I just talked with him and seems like a very straight forward guy. Won't BS you like other shops may. I'm going to send him my motor with all the accessories attached so he can clean, polish, and powdercoat various parts; alternator, water pump, intake manifold, etc. Not cheap though by any means.

I just bought the 3rd Gen R&R video...and the rebuild video...The R&R video was awesome...I had never thought of the safety wire repair job for the connectors.....rebuild video was ok....sure tells you how to rebuild.

random post for sure, but I was very happy with my Bruce Turrentine engine on my FC, which was built with the RA Super Seals.
