any hints on getting rid of water build up in the turn signals?

Take them out sit them in the direct hot sun (to bake the moisture out) then reseal all around the entire signal unit with clear RTV sealant (where the clear lens meets the white plastic) . Just make sure all the moisture is out before you seal it or you will just trap that inside.

a hairdryer works instead of the sunlight...if you're in a hurry.

I just finished cleaning out all the nasty azz condensation on the inside of the lens.

The lens still look kinda dull..but it looks a helluva lot better NOW, and I won't have to worry about it happening again.

Oh..and I do realize this is a 2 year old post. :D

It's a good thing this was brought back though, as I had some moisture in mine today. The sun took care of it, but can anyone explain how it got there? I did my own 99spec tail lights, and this only happened to one side.

Dude..all I can say...is that it's just too easy to get moisture in them if you use the stock sealant.

Go pick up some of that RTV, and COAT the sommabiatch in every crevice you can find, smooth it out..make sures there's no leakage or gaps anywhere.

I actually tested mine out by dipping them in a sink full of water for a few minutes. No leaks!!! :bigthumb:

once you have the lens out you can get some 3m rubbing compound fine cut. it makes the lens clearer. then pop the lens back in and you're good as new.

Ya..it's not the inside that's the problem..it's the f'ing front.

It's all nicked up by rock impacts. Will that work on the outside, as well?

I just got my 1994 Rx7 inspected in Missouri, and it failed the safety inspection due to moisture in the front turn signal light.

I can't believe it can be seen as a safety concern.

Looks like I will be taking apart my turn signal light tonight.

Damn, I didn't even know they counted that...

Dude, that sucks...how the hell do they consider that a safety concern?

Anyway, I took mine out, sat it on the table, took a hair dryer, set it on low, sat is on its side and left it pointing and blowing in the hole for about 15 minutes...dried it right up!

A very timely thread indeed, as both my turn signals are aquariums right now.
RTV sealant........can I get that at any hardware store?
