another smoke question (sorry)

When I accelerate hard I get some smoke, alot like the car on the video in this thread:

Is this an indication that I am running rich (and therefore that I'm pretty safe from detonation)? Is there any harm in running like this, or should I put an ecu on my Christmas list?

Thanks

That's not alot of smoke, that's very normal when you floor it like that.

ok? So do all nearly stock FDs blow smoke like this when accelerating hard?

TwinTurbo93 12-05-03 12:19 PM

For couple of FD's I've been in yes, I don't know if all of them do but I'm pretty sure yes.
Other cars do smoke on hard accel. maybe not as much.

Does it happen "every" time you accelerate hard? Kicking out the carbon build up will make that happen, however, it shouldn't happen every time you floor it if you drive your car often.

If you drive your car often, and it happens every time you floor it, I would say that something is not quite right. I wouldn't say it would be a serious problem, but a problem none the less.

Hmm, well I don't actually know if it does it everytime since it requires someone else to point it out to me. I don't drive the car very often - 2 or 3 times a month - so I expect it's carbon build up. I'll make a point of checking it next time I drive it.

I won't assume it's because I'm running rich (so I'll keep the boost below stock, which is how I have it set now)

Thanks guys :).
