4 in how long? Sorry, bad news sucks.( depends on how you look at it though,...Now you get a Gotham speacial!!)

But on the bright side... my car was faster than a Porche 911 turbo :D
This last motor lasted about 30-35k...

What happened?

I was at a 10.5 AFR... my compression was already low... I had been expecting it... i.e. less than 7:1 or <100psi
No data log just pop.

30k is a bit low milage. What did the previous engines go at?

depends on how you drive it....if you got 35k miles beating the crap out of it. that's pretty good :)

so what happens? you just get lower and lower compression and then the seals have room to move around and come out?

low compression means the seals are thin. eventually you wear em down to nothing and you have no more compression

but he said his engine poped which means a seal went out. With what you are describing the car would get hard to start etc and then just not start any more and have very low power until one day when it wont start at all. Why does low compression cause a seal to come out or break?

and how the hell does metal wear out so fast? the increased heat and speed of the rpms?

wonder1and can you describe how you drive the car and how much power you were making so I know what to expect on my car?

there are tons of different factors, how much boost, how was the tuning, how hot did the engine run, was it run at very high rpm for a long time.......

I was over 400 running 14lbs... I swapped turbos a little while ago expecting my motor not to make it through spring break... motor broke at high rpms.... how much power do you have surge?

Im sorry about your engine but it seems like with so many you knew it was coming? Im still in that denial state thinking if I take care of it really really well that everything will be fine for a while even if I have big power. 35k would not be acceptable for me 50k might be. As long as its 3-4 years.

I was making ~400rwhp at 16.5 psi on my single with small exhaust side and stock motor with 52k miles. Then one day I decided to rewire the profec and left the car unfinished for about a week. Went to drive it and forgot and hit a ton of boost and pop. I wonder how much longer the motor would have held up it only had big power for about 15k miles. The only problem was that I blew the front cover gasket out but I had that rigged with a bunch of RTV 2 weeks before and it was holding but I dont know for how much longer.

Now im planning on a ported motor and going for over 500rwhp on racegas and around 360 for the street. Im worried already and the engine isnt even built. :eek:

Being perfectly honest, I think expecting the motor to last 50k+ at 500 rwhp levels is not reasonable, even if it's only occasional use. You are talking over 600 hp at the flywheel from a motor that only lasts about 100k miles making 255 bhp.....

If I was running a single turbo car making 400 rwhp+, I would hope for more miles but wouldn't be surprised at a <40k lifespan. I would be curious about the tuning and would go over it with a fine-toothed comb to see if anything could be found, just to make sure.
