Am I Being Paranoid(Yet another cooling quest)

I just recently purchased a 93 R-1,i brought it to mazda for a look over they found a crack in the aftermarket radiator, they installed a new stock one.Since getting the car back I notice the usual gushing sound behind the glove box,I've burped her and haven't lost any coolant and occasionaly she runs slightly past the half way mark. There is no white smoke at all from the exhaust and no sweet smell, she starts fine and on occasion she will idle low btn 600-700 rpm.Am i just paranoid......

You never want to see your stock temp gauge move past nine o'clock. If it does, you're running very hot. Something isn't right with your cooling system.

Search this forum for info about overheating. There are a billion threads on the topic.

check our fans if they work, and also the mix that they did how much coolant and how much water

Banis 07-15-04 09:52 PM

fans are working fine and i am pretty they put more coolant than water because of the look of the fluid.

you want the opposite, either 50/50 or slightly more water....glycol doesn't transfer heat as well as water

While a new radiator is getting installed, go ahead and have the thermostat replaced. OEM will work just fine.

I wonder where are the folks that keeps arguing with me that the stock gauge will NOT MOVE AT ALL from the "warmed up position" and that if it moves up at all your engine is toast?

They are out trying to find ways to keep their motors running at 165F. :p:
