aluminum bending if heated??
 

Anyone know if aluminum bends if it is heated with a torch?

The reason I ask is because I have an efinii Ypipe that is slightly hitting the alternator....I need to bend a little indent into it....

Aluminum, like most noe-ferrous metals, is not readily workable by heat.
You can change the temper, but it doesn't do much to alter the workability....some alloys are a little more forgiving, but in general, no you can bend it with heat. Shot peening or other cold forming is the way to go....

Slot the holes
 

Sounds like you just need to shift it over a bit to clear.
Loosen the two nuts & see how much it rotates. Not enough?
Slot the holes in the upper half with a round file.
Worth a try, but you shouldn't have to do anything. Did you change the alternator belt to a differant length?

Keep in mind, if you dent the crossover tube it will restrict air flow. My suggestion would be to drill the holes bigger where the crossover meets the y pipe, that way you could move it around a little (have more play).
