Alternator relocation

This is my issue ( well one of them for those that have read my tranny just died too)

anyways: right now i have my PS and AC removed so i figured that i might as well go with the alternator relocation side mount unit cuz i think it's neat and cleans up the engine bay nice.

ok, the relocation would make the alternator run on the PS/AC (front) part of the main pulley....easy enough

my concern is when i decide to remove the smog pump, all i have left is the water pump to power off the back side of the main pulley and i can't do that because the WP runs off the back up the belt, no grooves....just flat

so, is there a pulley out there that i could just slap on the WP and buy like a super small belt to make this work?

also, i'm aware that removing the air pump makes your idle like trash but i don't even think mine is working right now so i've no concerns.

what do you guys think?

Alt is a 5 rib belt, PS & AC are 6 rib. Easy enough???

Which direction does the water pump turn Einstein?

Is your idle like trash? Maybe you should be more concerned.

so, what you're saying in a d'ck way is that i can't relocate the alternator because i need to power the WP.

thanks....i aspire to be as inconclusive as you

Almost......

Some genius thought it would be "cool' to add another alt (ie 2 total) in the place of his AC & PS.

For what reason no one could figue out.

Good luck with that.

You can do it if you get the side mount to run on the front pulley on the crank. Then for the WP you first need to make sure it runs the right way, then figure a way to tighten the second belt. I believe GoToRX7 and defined autowerks has a idler pulley that mounts in place of the alternator, the 20B guys do this for hood clearance. Yes it would be nice to run them both on one belt but the WP needs to turn the other direction.
Most do this mod because they are running electric WP.
I've seen pics of older gen motors running 1 belt setup to both side mount alt and then to the WP & crank, but I don't know how they do it.

i've noticed that all of the relocations i've seen done have an EWP but if i have to go that route to do the alternator relocation then i won't do it

unless someone out there has found another way to get the WP to spin the way it needs to using one belt with the alternator relocated
