alternator pulley whining....
i am having issues with a nussance of a squeak. NOT a belt-type squeak. Yes to the pulley kit, and yes to a new belt. the alternator, usually once a week, i get a constant whine from the alternator pulley/nut area. i can spray some PB or liquid wrench into the little breather hole on the face of the nut, and it stops. well, for a few days that is. just wondering if there is some sort of bearing that might be going bad or something to the like of that. i am most likely going to buy a new one and send i to be polished. i like new stuff. so, if anyone has an idea, post it. i am not too worried, simply annoyed.

c'mon. all of you geniuses out there, and no one has an opinion yet. i was sure that someone would have told me that i needed to check the fuel pump by now..... <--- i AM a comedian, well, that's debatable.. |
this section seems like the 3rd gen lounge more and more, with less technical assistance. like the guy with the seized pilot bearing. what gives. are too many people unknowledgeable or just don't give a flyin' fuck. not trying to be rude, but 10 views in hours...maybe no one knows....arrrrgggghhhhh......another long day at work.....

There is a bearing on the inside of the alternator's front braket. On page G14 of the shop manual it tells you to check for abnormal wear and movement. Pretty simple.

spray graphite in it and it should stop
