ALMOST a disaster! Bolt in front engine hoist ring broke!

Wow....this was fuckin' crazy! I'd just lowered my engine into the bay and was working it around to get it hooked up to the tranny when KAPOW! One of the bolts in the front hoist ring sheared off! So I checked the other one out, and it is evidently some sort of "shipping only" type of thing, as it is only about 5/16" long. I checked the ones out in my old engine and they are like 1" long. So NOW I've got a broken bolt in a really bad place (right behind the big front vacuum tank) to try and drill and EASY-OUT. :wallbash:

My motor is basically in and the tranny bolted up to it, but I need to lift it some more to get that %%%**!@@&^!!* left motor mount to drop in place. THAT motherfucker is about to piss me off!

Any suggestions on how to get it done quick and easy? I've tried and tried and the stud just won't even come close to going in the hole.

look on the brightside, if that sucker failed while the engine sat over the front (or windscreen) of your FD... you'd be much more gutted than you are right now.

you'll get it out... or you can say something to the factory (i'd imagine they shouldn't expect those bolts to be changed out) - ring them and ask what size bolts they put in there, if they say 1" then they didn't build an engine capable of it's intended purpose (i.e. installation and running).

why would you have it over the windscreen? i dunno, just saying :P
