Almost cried...Map sensor:(

I just installed my large smic and koyo and was out for the first run to check things out. After about 20 min I started messing with my boost controler on my pfc to get my boost levels right. I get on it i 4th gear and every things going fine, I'm seeing .82 bar and my air temps are droping(45 to41). At about 135mph I get a jerk,a loud pop and a big puff of smoke behind me. I shift into neutral and the Idle is down and jerking. I really almost craped my self, I thought I had blown my engine, but it turned out to be the map sensor:cool: . I think I am going to keep some spare pants in my car for when it does blow...and some tissue

Does the height of the ast affect its function??

wtf happened again?

and what kinda spare parts you gonna carry around? cherry picker? air tools? compressor? a set of apexseals? a couple of turbos?

Compression check it. When the MAP sensor hose pops off, the ECU thinks the engine is at 0 psi aka atmospheric pressure. This is a bad thing when you've got your foot in it and have full boost.

Mine popped off awhile back. Something didn't feel right, so I backed off. I didn't get any smoke. Compression check showed no problems, but yeah, it scared me, too.

And the AST has absolutely no effect on the MAP sensor. The AST is part of the cooling system.

You are talking about the air seperator tank yes? Or did you mean to type MAP? OR was that a seperate question? Cause then yes it would affect the operation.

Better put some stonger zip ties on that hose now huh? And DEPENDS work pretty good as well!;)
Must have been an intresting shock at 135:D

he said he was going to keep extra pants in his car, not parts, lol. Glad to hear it was nothing serious though.

So does the ast's postion affect its function? I moved it where the battery used to be.

I zip tied that bastard ass little hose to the map sensor. thats the 2rd time its given me trouble

Zip-tied very tight, mine popped off the other day also. It's scary at first until you pop the hood and see the hose hanging loose. *Whew* :)
