Alignment: Expert opinions needed
 

I wacked my front right wheel on a curb - now the camber is about an inch off and it's pointing in a little different direction than the other wheel. To go straight, I have to turn my steering wheel about a third of a turn counter clock-wise.

Assuming the impact is not that bad, but results in the above described symptoms:
What exactly happens to the suspension components when a wheel hits a curb like this? Does something HAVE to bend? Or, does the force move something that can be moved back?

Some explanation of this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I had a similar experience - Spun off the track and ended up with LOTS of camber and steering off by 20deg - There was nothing bent , the Camber/Caster adjustment is done by eccentric bolts and sharp impacts can cause them to rotate, upseting the alignment. Just have it realigned and it should be fine.

Now THAT'S what I wanted to hear!!!!!! Hopefully it pans out:)

Well, max... it turned out that I needed more than an alignment. I believe the difference in our experiences was that I had a sharp impact while you had sustained pressure.

These items were replaced at great cost to me:
-Lower A arm
-spindle/hub
-knuckle
-rim

I really didn't think the impact was THAT bad, but I guess it was.

Unfortunately, I'm also told that the camber still can't be brought exactly to spec, so they adjusted the other wheel to match. Frame bent slightly??? Essentially both front wheels are now tilted to the right very slightly. Drives straight as an arrow and seems to handle fine - although I suspect this might not be the case when pushed hard. I'm going to contact a body shop to see what they say.
