alarm automatic start?
 

has anyone installed an alarm with an automatic start? i've heard contemplating answers about install the automatic start that it maybe good or bad for our fd's? can anyone support this?

Can be a dangerous thing for standard models, you'll be bypassing the clutch safety switch for it to work. It's been done just have to be aware of the clutch switch and most shops won't do the instal due to the liabillity of it.

My FD has it. The car came with it installed. Works fine and everything although I don't find any use for automatic start here in CA. Maybe in colder climate.

There was just a thread on this in one of the rx7club forums. I recommend a search.

Mine has a remote start. Never had any problems with it before, and it actually has some pretty cool features:

You CANT remote start it in gear, in order to arm the remote start system, you have a set procedure to follow. Car must be in neutral and running, all windows etc.... closed (alarm sensors detect this), and when you pull the key from the ignition, the car remains running, much like a turbo timer. Then when you get out, and close the door, the car automatically shuts down, and arms the alarm.

Also, you can set it to autostart every half an hour and run for a couple minutes, if you are in a real cold climate, or whatever reason you would want.

Its nice to have with the FD, because you can start your car a few minutes before you leave, and it will be up to operating temp. Other than that, unless you live in a colder climate, its more of a gimic than necessary.

Even if you do leave it in neutral because you knew the next morning/day you would do the automatic start because maybe the weather is cold, would you want the AWS to go on?? in 30 or below degree weather??
