airpump locking down

hey,

well, when i hook my air pump up, it causes my whole pulley sysem, (well the items on that one belt), to stall, and the belt locks down and makes a racket, so i unhooked the air pump, and it does a lot better, but obviously my air pump is locking up, but does it still lock up (even partially maybe) when i disconnect the harness on the air pump?

i have a gutted main cat by the way

thanks,

paul

Your airpump has siezed. If your main cat is gutted then you don't need your airpump anyway. Go ahead and leave the grey electrical connector disconnected. This will cause the airpump pulley to turn freely without any resistance on the drive belt.

Have you blocked off your ACV?

no i have not blocked off my ACV, why? and thanks, jonski

The purpose of the ACV is to route air coming from the airpump. Without the airpump, the ACV doesn't work.

You can also eliminate two solenoids (B and C) from the rack.

I asked, because if your ACV is blocked off, then the airpump's outlet will be blocked. The backpressure creates heat and stresses the bearings and the airpump eventually siezes.

will it hurt performance by not blocking off my ACV, while not running the air pump, should i block off the airpump outlet hole?

I doubt it will have an effect on performance.

You shouldn't need to block off the airpump outlet. After 3500rpms the airpump shuts off under normal operation, anyway.
