Airbag electrical connector.

Hi,

I have purchased a Nardi steering wheel from eBay. It came with the airbag but I noticed that the pigtail is missing.

Where can I source the pigtail/connector for this? Any tips in install?

Thanks!

Michael

The Nardi has an airbag? Are you sure you don't mean the horn connection? (Sorry, but I'm OLD!)

Here is what "Nardi" brings to my mind... FWIW.

Hi Michael,

believe there's a writeup here on the forum. Depending on what you purchased (feel free to post pics) you need to drill the turn signal cancels for 12 and 6 o'clock as the Miata/MS3 were 3 and 9 o'clock. You also need to transfer over your airbag and horn connectors via soldering.

I used to convert many of these back in the day, they're nice wheels (certainly much nicer than OEM school bus style) but it's funny how most use this as a 'Gateway Drug' on their way to a nice Nardi non-airbag wheel :D

Would a later model (S8) clock spring make a difference in installing Miata steering wheel
Without trouble, I ran into the same problem when I installed mine in my 92

No, the socket are still on 12 and 6 o'clock, plus the clock spring is most likely not a direct swap.

Awww I see , good to know , thank you

Was waiting for you to answer all this time. LOL. Haven't had chance to install the cruiser control you sent me last year...

It seems like I bought the steering wheel from a member on this forum and was told that it will bolt in. So when you say it is not a direct swap how do you mean?

Very easy swap that should take at most an hour.

Keep the FD clock spring.

Drill a detent at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions for the turn signal cancels.

Cut the airbag connector off your existing airbag and solder onto the replacement airbag. Make sure you disconnect the battery first.

If you want the cruise control you will need to either relocate it or make some kind of bracket to mount it.

I was referring to swapping the S8 clock spring, your wheel will fit as long as it has the 12 & 6 o'clock notch. As far as the cruise control I sent you, if your wheel doesn't work with the stock bracket then just drill 4 holes on the back cover and mount it with some #6 Phillips screw, like this.
